Identify this zippo?

That zippo is called the "Purple Haze". I don't think it was a good seller and it was discontinued years ago. I don't think you'll find a better price than the 46.95 tag you saw.
 
It's possible it was just a limited edition but I highly doubt it. At least it wasn't labeled as such when it was in the catalog.

I'm gonna take a guess and say its probably because its a weird look at a high price point. Most zippos are bought as gifts. Either you go really expensive or really cheap. Also, its not a good lighter to have engraving done on.
 
i wouldnt use it. put it away for 20-30 yrs and sell it. never know you could turn a coin on it.
