Hi everybody,
my name is Professore and I am new here. After a lot of time spent searching on the SAK wiki and past threads I have decided to ask this question directly to the members of the community, in the hope that someone could help me.
My father had received a Victorinox when he was young and he forgot it into a drawer. I would like to know the model and year of production.
The SAK has written "Victorinox Switzerland Stainless Rostfrei" on one side of the main blade and "Officier Suisse" with a small cross and an umbrella on the other. The body of the knife is red and the brand is graven in a silver like color. In particular there is no conjuction between the internal cross and the outside shield which is also quite different in shape from current models.
The SAK has the same functions of a current Spartan model: blade, large; blade, small; can opener; screwdriver 3 mm; bottle opener; screwdriver 5 mm; wire stripper; Reamer, punch and sewing awl; corkscrew; key ring but no tweezers or toothpick.
I am attaching some pictures of the knife.

I can't tell for sure what tools are in it (looks like it may be a Climber), but it is a nylon scale (that's the normal shield for nylon scaled Vics). It is an alternate handle instead of the normal celllidor. I think it was considered a less expensive model with the nylon scales. The nylon scaled SAKs didn't have the toothpick or tweezers.

Hi

The following is a quote from SAKWiki and I think it describes your knife pretty close:

The earlier 'Standard ' model was the predecessor to the Spartan and its name was a reflection of its early military heritage. It is almost identical to the Spartan, but with solid scales, which did not contain the tweezers or toothpick tools, and also usually did not included the keyring.

The "umbrella" is a crossbow just in case you didn't know. A common symbol in Switzerland (especially military) because of Guillaume (William) Tell. A Swiss legend. :)

Now I feel like a moron. I used to think it was an umbrella too, and wondered why an umbrella would be stamped on a knife. I wish Victorinox would bring back that stamp, which was allegedly removed for "cost considerations".
