Recommendation? Identifying leaf spring steel

I have an idea that I want to make happen now that I’m making knives. My last name is Studabaker, and my family has a few old Studebaker vehicles. I want to use the leaf springs and have them forged into damascus, but identifying the steel used is obviously ideal. What’s the best way to go about doing that? If I need to send a sample out to a lab, I can do that, but I have no idea where to start.

They are OSS steel

(Old Studebaker Spring steel)

Just consider them as 5160/9260 steel. That will be close enough for damascus
