My wife shocked me with my first-ever Case knives last week. Not knowing which one to get - she got both of the following:

I know the RH knife is stag - in agreement with it's box. What is the left hand? The box implies it is 'chestnut' (CHSNT), but those fish-like scales mean something. And... wny no Case emblem/logo on the scales? Any clues?

Also, it's a tad stiff - what lube should I use? Thanks!

Stainz, I think it's Chestnut bone in Case's
Pinecomb Design! That's what it looks like!
I don't know allot, like most of the "folks" here,
But that's what I think it is! Hope this helps!
BTW, No sheild so it doesn't mess-up the Pinecomb
Pattern!

Yep, the one on the left is Case's pine cone pattern. I use a drop of 3n1 oil if my pivots need it, seems to work just fine.

As for oil I always use a drop or two of mineral oil.
Do you mind if I use this thread as a hint for Christmas? The boss really needs to see how your wife thinks!;)

My wife was with me when I asked a knife salesman in a local gun/sports store about the Case Seahorse, which I had decided looked ideal for my 'first' Case. It was 'put in the vault' by Case in July - and he had none. He said he could probably find me one - I declined. My wife went back later - and asked him to get one for her - he located two. She couldn't decide on one when they arrived last Tuesday - so she got them both. Of course, I didn't know this.

Last week, not knowing she had bought me the Seahorses, found me on Evil-bay - buying a Seahorse. I mentioned my problems buying it and she retreated to her 'play' room, returning with my Christmas presents - a bit early - the pair of Seahorses. The one I ordered arrived today - now I have three!

My wife is a treasure. Last Christmas, knowing I had bought both a Benchmade 610 Rukus and 615 Mini Rukus earlier in the year, she found me a Rukus I didn't have. She bought me a fully automatic Rukus - a 6150! My birthday last summer saw her get me a Benchmade 15020-1 Bone Collector and a 520 Presidio.

A couple of years ago, at a local club's gunshow, I was to meet a friend at his tables to buy his LN older Puma White Hunter. Money was tight - and buying it would have used up all of my cash - no lunch for my wife, who was with me. Her allergies drove her to the ladies room as I discussed guns/knives with an old friend. When she returned, her leg was bothering her, so I was through anyhow and suggested we leave. She needed antihistamines - so we stopped by the house enroute to her favorite eatery. Oddly, her leg was better as we went to lunch, as evidenced by her absent limp. Later that afternoon, as my alma mater, Auburn, faltered - on the tube - she laid that Puma White Hunter in my lap - sheathed, thankfully, saying that she hoped that eased the pain! At 5'10", she could carry it stuffed down her pants leg, thus the 'limp'. Of course, she knew what my price was to be - her's was a lot better. Yep - she is a keeper!!
