Identity question - age?

Hello all;

I have a fixed blade Schrade with a leather washer handle, brass finger gaurd and cap. The blade is stamped with SCHRADE over U.S.A. 497. The blade is a 4 1/4" bowie style clip point. The but cap is stamped with two emblems, one is a anvil the other is a three point crown.

Can anyone tell me how old the knife is and its approx value.

That is a 49er. There is a thread in the archives on this series. Your knife was made after 1972 . 70 tys early 80tys I do not remember exactly. Value today who knows this stuff is going nuts. In good shape a few months ago 25 to 45 dollars One of the other folks here will be able to give you the exact dates these were made. LT
