If a tree falls in your driveway, does it make a sound?

Bet your cars it does, Whack was the sound we heard around 3:45pm today when our pine tree was blown down by the high winds, plus it appears to have died, didn't even know it was sick, but right at ground level is where it snapped off, damage to our 2010 new to us Sonata, minor scratches to the 2008 Kia and just kissed the corner of our roof, here are a few images;

Nice blue skies there... were these pics long after the fact, or freak wind storm with sickly tree thing?

Just very high winds, shots taken about 1/2 hour after it fell, the tree was loosing it's needles and noticed it seemed to be leaning more than normal and wham, down she went, I had JUST got back from the post office otherwise my car wouldn't have been there to keep the tree from hitting the house harder than it did, luckily just brushed it and no damage to the roof!
Snowed lightly here this morning, the other day it was in the 80's, go figure!

hehe, well, something along those lines for sure, but the sad part is, that 2010 car we JUST picked it up about a month ago, driven not very many miles as I've been traveling, and it was in like mint condition, very well taken care of, ah well, things happen...

No but the chainsaw does.
Glad you're OK.
I had an Illawarra Flame tree come down on the car AND the pole to house powercable last year.
No damage thankfully.
I jinxed the tree by commenting two days earlier that it was fat healthy green looking tree.

Glad nobody got hurt. I just had several maple limbs as thick as my arms and legs come off a maple beside my driveway. It was just luck that my wife had parked her 2012 Forrester on the other side of the driveway.

Sorry that happened, Gary. Had the exact same thing happen in my driveway about four years ago -- pine tree that was saturated with ice snapped off right in the middle of its trunk and fell on my Toyota pickup. Still got some dings and dents to remind me of it.

Pine trees are the weeds of the tree world!

Thats too bad there Gary. No kidding, a buddy from work had a similar thing happen two weeks ago. Large white pine fell on his 2010 Aztek and his old pickup. I squashed both of them into a trip to the junkyard. He rode his cycle to work until Friday last when they got a new ride with insurance money.

Sorry. Glad no one was hurt.

I cannot tell from the pics, but if the integrity of the roof is affected, you'll be car shopping when you get home.

We have 4 hurricanes one year. The last one took a tree behind my Mobil home and it fell one the back door persons house. They filed against me in court for damages against there Mobil home. The insurance company said get real they need to file with there insurance company. They said they didn’t have any insurance. The judge threw out there law suit.

Well, got the estimate today, just a bit over $7,000, while the parts that are damaged, the trim that goes around the doors and down to the quarter panel seem like it would be a quick fix, but it ties in with the frame of the car! OUCH it's going to take them around 12 days to get this done, once they have the parts on hand, the guy seemed like WOW this is going to be a lot of work, yeah, no kidding, should I leave it with you? really? :) the other car had brush marks, nothing major, no parts to replace, so just the 2010 Sonata will be torn apart, hopefully put back together properly!!! ugh, trees!
