IF.... Camillus goes under...

I have a few Camillus, Becker and Western knives, I buy as I can afford to, but as when Schrade went under, some knives cost about the same some less, and some more.
Knives like the PH1, PH2, Golden Spike etc tend to cost a lot on Ebay, cause everyone wants them.
So, any ideas on which ones will become the hard to find knives, or cost a lot as everyone is trying to buy them? I want to add a few more to my small collection, and want to get the ones now, that might be hard to get later.
Thanks.

In my opinion the knives that are most popular today
will be the ones with the highest demand in the future
if Camillus Cutlery goes out of business.

Yes, I think so too.

Look first for the ones, as already said, that are uncommon today. Then, while everyone is clammering for the rarer stuff, switch to the newer knives introduced just a year or so ago. They were generally produced in smaller amounts than earlier knives that were produced for years. Also the oldest stuff will climb. Until.......the WIP hits the market, and at the same time mom and pop clean out their closets. Then it will be a buyer's market again. The timeframe will depend on how much WIP is in stock, and how much is warehoused by distributors and dealers. SOme will discount to unload, some will jack to reap profits. You plays, you pays!

Just for the record, people I have talked to say there is no word of closing. So far, the rumors are not, in my opinion, substantiated. At least the BBW has not sung yet.

That is very good news - considering the tone of most of the postings about the situation.

(won't say more here so as not to hijack the thread)

The best Camillus product would have had to be the Cold Steel Trailmaster.
The best coldsteel would have to come from either the Camillus OVB or CUDA range. And as stated above, BK&T's are absolute charmers for its price range.
Definately nothing from Camco though.

Do you think the Camillus Heat will become hard to find? I think the blade is made in Taiwan, but i don't know about the other parts of the knife. Will i still be able to buy it new from a shop in a couple of months' time?

Certain Schrade knives became more prolific on the market after the closing due to the release of the factory inventory and other factors mentioned, but we must remember that Imperial Schrade was a lumbering mega-cutlery compared to the much smaller Camillus Cutlery, so the answer to your question is anyone's guess. Camillus is still not officially closed, though it looks like the production of their Cold Steel line of American knives has ceased. I look for that production to resume as soon as Cold Steel finds another maker for those patterns, either here or on the Pacific Rim with their other products.
