Hi guys I got my first sebenza about a week ago, I really love it.

I sharpened it last night and very lightly scratched the blade. They arent deep at all, the sandpaper just roughed up the surface along the blade right between the bevel and top of the grind.

It doesnt really bother me much as this is my main EDC now and like very worn looking knives. I was just wondering if I wanted to tumble my blade sometime down the road would it void my warranty? Its obviously already tumbled and the stonewash I do looks exactly whats on the sebbie and I dont think you'd be able to even tell if I did it but I was just wondering.

I tried looking around the net but have only found answers about the handles. Which by the way I love the way the handles wear.

Another question I was wondering is do you guys recommend using CRK's grease? I know cr recommends it but I was just wondering on some of your guys expriences. I have tuff guide and rem oil and actually use the rem oil the most.

It sounds corny but I still cant believe I have a sebenza now. I got into blades exactly a yr ago and would have never thought Id have a sebbie. Im never going to get rid of this guy!!

thanks guys

My educated guess based on what I have seen is that if you modify the tang and were the washers go it could jeopardize the lock and/or cause blade play which is tampering with the knife. Any polishing, tumbling, etc method will remove material and could affect the integrity of the knife.
I would advice against it

If I were you I'd play it safe and send it back to CRK. They'll retumble the blade for a nominal fee.

Tumbling your blade at any point will indeed void the CRK Warranty, and no matter how good a job it ends up CRK will know the difference. For a nominal charge and a small turn around time the CRK shop will refinish your blade as long as your fine Sebenza remains under Warranty. Play it safe. Let CRK take care of any refinishing you would like in the future, and keep the good CRK Warranty.

As for using the CRK Florinated Grease, I recommend it highly. Easy to use, a little goes a long way, even the small tube lasts for many cleanings, and the grease, in my opinion, really does make a difference.
It's not just a ploy to get you to buy their grease, the stuff really does work. :)

It will void the warranty and retumbling the blade will not cover up scratches from sharpening anyway. CRK can refinish a blade for you, as mentioned. If you're sharpening the knife then you must be using the knife so don't worry, it will look much worse in a few months or years of use. :p

As for lube the CRK grease is a good choice and I use it on all my folders not just CRKs, that said anything that lubricates with out eating the meeting surfaces will work just fine. I have used all sorts fo things from Tuf-Glide to chainsaw bar grease to engine oil. :)

Good looking guys. I kinda had a feeling that was the way it was gonna go. It really doesnt bother me much I actually like all my stuff scratched but it looks very unnatural wear just bugs me a tiny bit.

I love the look of the scales being worn. A couple times a day ill put my sebbie in the bottom of my pocket with a ring of keys and jiggle my pocket a minute or so. Its producing some sweet looking wear!

Man I love this sebbie. Never liked em a yr ago but they've grown on me a lot.

Im gonna order some crk grease to.

thanks guys
