If I was a (SRKW) Rodent 6, where would I hide?

My Swamp Rat knives live in one of the cabinets of my desk. I was checking something else in said cabinet, and noticed that an R6 (blue/black with tanker grey) wasn't there. Odd... Actually looked for it, and I was right - it isn't there. I checked the cubby at the left rear corner, where I had a pile of knives - found one I didn't even remember buying, but no sign of the R6. Checked the rest of the desk, the floor around it, everyplace in my office I thought I might have set a knife before getting distracted. No such luck.
I checked the spare room, where I have a bunch of knives stored - it isn't there, either. Now I'm just confused.
I'm sure it didn't just walk away; and I know I didn't use it, so there is no reason for it not to be in its rightful place. The gf brings knives into my office, and sets them on the desk (part of the reason for the pile at the left rear corner, lol); but she wouldn't open the cabinet and remove one.
I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow morning, when I get home....

It is probably out getting a snack. Check around for chunks of wood. Hope you find it.

I *think* I may have had it out while looking for a certain BuyBrown sheath recently...if I wandered around with it in hand as the search continued, it could be just about anyplace. It's probably right there in the open, wishing it wasn't sheathed, so it could get my attention the next time I pass by.
Unless, as suggested, it's off on a little adventure - in which case I'm sure it will be home soon enough.

I have physically moved every knife in my office and storage, with no sign of it. Unfortunately, I'm fighting a growing suspicion that it might have found a new home after a recent party. (It was one of several knives that was brought out for some fellow knife enthusiasts to view/handle.) Obviously, I don't want to think somebody I invited into my home would have "wandered off" with it, but that's where I am.

Check the couch. They eat more stuff than billy goats. Hope ya find it.

I've looked in, and under, everything that could conceal a knife of that size (and most things that couldn't) a few times over before letting this thought take hold. I'll continue looking, obviously...hopefully I'm very wrong.
Having to replace it would suck...but not as badly as even thinking one of them might have taken it.
Thanks for the support.

I just found a spyderco military I thought I had lost in between my mattress and the bed-frame. I've been looking for it all week, and just found it after my remote dropped in the same place. Yours will probably turn up similarly.

Except this one isn't a user - it lives in a cabinet of my desk (I have my reasons for that). I can replace it...but I can't replace it; which just adds to my frustration.

Under, behind, on top of...every drawer, cabinet, and shelf - all checked more times than I can remember.

Have you been abusing it regularly? Sometimes when a Swamp Rat isn't being abused enough, it will run away to a better home for some pain and suffering.

A year has passed, with no sign of that R6...and I still periodically launch a thorough search. At this point, I have long since given in to the notion that it was disappeared; and I haven't invited friends into my home since. (When asked about this, I am very honest about the reason).
As it was one of those knives that I could replace, but could not replace, I have not ordered a new one...despite the yearning to do so. Maybe with that extra check I'm expecting this month....and maybe I'll order a tan on muddy (love that combo) R6 to go with it.
Then again....maybe I'll wait and see how long my RMD order takes, before deciding

Damn man, that just sucks. Your suspicions, and precautions, seem on the mark--it would have driven me nuts... wildly confronting people, hurling accusations, daggers from my eyes (maybe worse)...

All that aside, maybe getting another before they are gone (never know these days) would be best... who wants to be ripped off and then have to pay secondary market prices to set things right again.

Hope there is a silver lining to your storm clouds soon.

I had a similar experience with a kdsh this summer... either I buried it with my tractor somehow or it grew legs with one of the many people the wife invites over. Either way it's not good.:grumpy:

That sucks! My son had an iPod go missing from his room one time (this was years ago when the iPod was a very 'hot' item for young folks). Anyway, he searched for it and eventually become convinced that one of his friends took it. He never approached them about it, but the relationship was never the same because of the trust issue. Years later he accidentally found the iPod, I guess it had been kicked under his furniture somehow and there it had sat, all those years. :o

Unless his friend came over and dropped it under the couch.

People are sucky and sneaky. At least you're being honest with everyone. Hopefully the guilty party (if there is one) knows what's up and gas guilt in the pit of their stomach forever.
