if infi didnt exist

thats a great question...and one that i dont have an answer too. but im curious to the answer. and spring grove? where is that

oh..wow you cant get much farther than that in this great state. well since this is a knife forum i want to say i want a steeler INFI

Just look at Swamp Rat and then Scrapyard for the answer, no?

A8...oops that is INFI isn't it(at least that's what I have heard)......so how about cpmA7 or cpmD7

From what I understand Jerry does a lot of testing and what makes INFI unusual is the heat treat. So I’d suspect that he knows of a steel or two –right now- that would have similar performance after his extensive heat treat.

So I pick that one:thumbup:

A2 was good enough before INFI came along, so why not fall back to it? :D
I totally agree with you there, Progunner. I am curious, though, why we aren't seeing A2 (yet) with Scrap Yard or Swamp Rat.

Let's face it, most of here would buy a sharpened piece of glass from Jerry! :D

the reason i am asking is i am about to have a mean ass machete made based on an old one i have but is no longer made..... i would ask jerry to make it but it would cost 4,000 bucks for a simple machete, i do however want the steel to be really good. i ordered some d2 and a2 last week..... gonna send it out for waterjet cutting soon.....

This one has been hashed out before. A8 has alot of similar components to INFI but they are not the same.

Don't EVEN ask that question!!!! Tool steel or a CPM. Which one, BOSS?
Lycosa

CPM3V - treated at least as well as Fehrman does it. His blades are terrific.

Big Knives in A-2.

Small knives in Stellite/Talonite.

Small knives for edge retention, not Prybars.

Great Choice! I am a big fan of Talonite for smaller knives also. That material is just too darn expensive though.

52100 is great stuff

Please post some pics once you have the machete. Sounds pretty cool, and, I assume- BIG!
