The wife has been feeling a bit crook for a while now so she went to the doctor who ordered some blood tests and the results came back today. Seems there is some possibility she might have diabetes. She has to go back for more tests soon to make sure. What a bugger! :(

Anyway, I figured I knew you guys well enough by now that you'd allow me a small whine without giving me too much grief. :)

Wish us luck.

Sorry to hear that Gajinoz, hopefully the tests will come back as negative.

Good luck and best wishes. Hopefully it's a minor situation that can be controlled with diet and excercise, vs. constant testing and medication.

I have two friends with diabetes, one on the needle (since he was a teenager), another who manages with pills. Neither is physically active.

My brother-in-law had diabetes but he was severely overweight and had stomach surgery. He lost over 100 lbs. He also has a physically demanding job working as home contractor doing renovating and remodeling. He is now free of the disease.

I hope things turn out well - my prayers are with her (and you.)

Chances are, if she is diagnosed with it now, it will be type II. That will be easier to control than the type I. Final tests may come back negative anyways.

I hope things work out as smoothly as possible for you and her.

I hope all goes well for the cheese and kisses and yourself. My thoughts are with you both. Keep your chin up, Digger.

My father-in-law has diabetes and was quite ill untill he found out what it was and how to control it. Now he just suffers from a little tiredness if he overdoes things. It's just a matter of taking the tablets and not going too extreme with the food & drink.

The tablets give him wind, though!

Adult-onset diabetes can very often be essentially cured with diet and exercise.

If this is her diagnoses, then insist that your GP refer you to a specialist.

Well, good luck. Diabetes is highly treatable through proper nutrition and exercise and all that FUN stuff! It does suck, but it isn't the worst thing that could happen, so try to help her feel better however you have to, okay? Like, I'm thinking a really nice gift might lift her spirits... ;)

I've been " on the needle " for 7 or so years now. Quite a shock when it happens but not the worst thing in the world. Hopefully things will turn out well for your wife Gaj. If I can be of any use at all to you either as a diabetic or, wearing my other hat, as a nurse who deals regularly with diabetes, blood tests etc. then please drop me a line. Fingers crossed for you both.

Phil

Thanks for the thoughts guys and gals, I'll keep you updated.

Just to make life really interesting she got thrown off one of the horses on Sunday and has some pretty spectacular bruising on her hip and shoulder and now she's hobbling about the place feeling sore and sorry for herself. I guess July is not her month!

Hoping for the best for your missus'.Prayer went out before I posted this. What these folks have already said.Nutrition and diet. And a good doc.Let us know how it goes.
