What custom knifemaker would you like to have build what type of knife for you?
Let's just say the person had no backlog and money wasn't an object.
What type of knife would you like to see what maker build?
Give us some details, tell us why you think that particular maker would rock out
that type of knife, what changes would you make? Materials?

Like I'd like to see Bill Bagwell do a Khukri
I'd like to see Dylan Farnham or Elishiwitz do a Balisong.

If you're really feeling frisky, tack on which production company you'd like
to mass market your collaboration.

That's a tough one. I already own my "dream custom" and it's my Baryonyx machete prototype, which was my design water jet cut then heat treated at a professional facility. The only parts touched by a custom maker were the scales because I didn't have the time to do it myself. And it's going to be seeing production with Condor next year, so that's covered already as well. :D

So in a different vein, I'll say that I'd love to have a custom shovel made by George Lesche at Predator Tools, with a smal rice shovel blade and short handle so it'd be easy to pack. WW Manufacturing could do the production version.

Or I'd like to have a custom scythe made by John Neeman. Not even sure if they can make scythe blades though. :D

This is a hard one.....

I would probably have Jeremy Marsh make a Minion-style flipper with hamon, lefty liner lock in bronzed Ti, superconductor bolsters, lightning strike carbon fiber and Mokume thumbstuds.

Oh yeah--I'd also be tempted to have John Lundemo forge me out a new "Lightning" hay knife. :D

The production is easy. Benchmade with an AXIS lock my design. The blade would be a cross between a Darrel Ralph bowie, Pat/Wes Crawford natural 2 and ZT300 in 3V. Handle would be very similar to the BM950 but with Micarta scales with several natural tones.

Custom would be a large Jason Knight damascus bowie, with a bit of a recurve, with maybe Koa wood or curly maple. Paul Long inlayed sheath. And a 5160 version with Micarta scales for real use.

Thanks. Can't wait 'til the production version hits around this time next year (if all goes to plan)! :D

I'd have Jake Powning forge my dream sword. Single edged viking sword something like his Helvegr or Vidirhrafn.

+1!!

I was just going to say an either a Rick Hinderer XM-18 3.5 fatty in CPM 3v, or a Mick Strider Custom SnG, Spearpoint Dagger grind in CPM 3v with Full Ti scales.

I know Phil Wilson does slicers and filet knives...

But, I would have him make a bush/camp survival knife of heavy duty proportions out of CPM 3V. A 4-5 inch blade very thick and convex ground, G-10 or Micarta scales, Kydex sheath, and a Phil Wilson optimal heat treat!

Then get Spyderco to make it a production knife.

The picture in my avatar is pretty much everything I wanted as a custom knife. Fantastic chopper, and that is exactly what I wanted it for.

Production.... ZT0560CBCF would probably fill that bill pretty nicely, too.
