Does the sheath make the knife???

I asked myself that today when this arrived.

Freeman Outdoor Gear 451 5” Field Knife

It arrived in the mail today from a very generous forum member.

I didn't do a lot with it today. Some shavings, inspected the sheath, and some light chopping of some 4 inch pieces of dry oak.

The sheath sucked me in, the knife held my attention.

I was oogling this on the exchange when you grabbed it!! Always liked Freeman's designs, even his Gerber creations.. That sheath is great too!! C.Pirtle's tag line for his sheath company is " Is your sheath as nice as your knife ""!!! That one falls in there for sure!! Enjoy!!

Great pics!
But I do think the sheath does NOT make the knife.
In fact, it's very disappointing to see an awesome well crafted sheath but find a crappy Pakistan special knock-off knife inside.

If you have an awesome sheath like that one, you had better have a freak'n awesome knife to go with it!

AND YOU DO!

In many cases, the sheath does make the knife. In your case, the knife and sheath make one another that much better.

I think it is a two way street, and this recent acquisition of OP is a fine example of such.

Very nice combo, well-designed, although I prefer a simpler, more compact sheath. I prefer to carry hone/fire starter (BiC:D) separately.

That's the cool thing abut this sheath.
Two small bolts and all the paraphernalia out front
drops right off.

You can go fast and light or loaded up.

I'm looking for a black patent leather sheath so I can tastefully carry when wearing my tuxedo......LOL
