When I was logging this picture onto my blem file I tagged it as "perfect 18 inch Sirupati blem by Sanu." How can a blem be perfect? It can't but this is as close as you can get to fitting that pardoxical description.

This is an 18 incher that has everything going for it. Perfect fit, magic stone mirror finish, hardness 60 Rc, HI super habaki bolster, excellently done brass inlay and scrollwork, beautiful high sheen buffalo horn handle. Karda and chakma excellent. Scabbard excellently done and tooled by the sarki with no name. Frog 100 year HI superfrog. It is more than a ten out of ten except -- Sanu found a forging flaw and worked it out leaving a small indentation a couple of inches back from the tip. It is a heartbreaker.

Take it for $75 delivered to your door. We can't ship it until after the convention -- Monday or Tuesday. Sorry.

Congratulations to the one who bought this (can't decipher your handle

) because you're getting a heck of a deal for what looks like a beautiful knife.

Sanu is turning it on but he missed something on this one that he should have seen earlier in the game.

I have a feeling during this hot weather and the monsoon the guys may be working nights to try to avoid the worst of the heat and the lighting in the shop is very poor. Poor lighting will cause them to miss little cracks and flaws -- then when they spot them the work is too far down the line and it's better to just finish up and send the knife as a blem as to start over.

Well true to honorable form, Uncle Bill has continued his excellent service. When I laid claim to this "blem" I was told that shipment would have to wait until after the Khonvention. Being a newly infected carrier of HIKV this was not a problem at all. However this evening while huddling in front of the computer avoiding the downpour leftovers of Hurricane Debby that missed Miami, one of the roomates of the house came home and was carrying the drenched mail, including a long soaked box wrapped in a now familiar way. I was beside myself with anxiety in opening it (made easier by the fact that the cardboard was soaked through from a few hours of non-stop rain). Opening it I found another beautiful specimen of artwork perfectly dry and still wrapped in Reno newspaper. Beautiful work has been done into the scabbard. The edge on this wonder is more than enough to shave with, and the magic stone finish makes it tempting to try shaving with it and using the blade itself as a mirror in the process (I won't Range Safety
