Im a knife newbie but i was wondering if anyone here can tell me a knife that fits this description....

Fixed blade full tang tanto, serrated, no longer than 6 1/2 inches (total with handle and blade) that's "scary sharp," no more than a $100.00.. Will be used for pretty much anything and everything a knife is made to do, from chopping onions to skining game.. from cutting ropes to tearing off seat belts and car seats (you neeeeever know).. Thank you.

Eh.....probably a Cold Steel Recon tanto. Can be had for $65 or so.

The closest I can think of is the Benchmade Nim Cub II 148SBK. The overall length is about an inch longer than what you're looking for, but other than than it meets all of your criteria. You can find it for <$100 at Knifeworks or GP Knives.

Thanks for the fast response.. Thought about the recon tanto but i always thought that was a folder. Also, i dont think i can buy that online and get it shipped to California. I know theres a few or majority of Cold Steel knives i CANT buy on Amazon.

Also thought about the Ka Bar but i think its too long. Not familiar with the one made by benchmade.

I saw a Gerber that SOOOOORT of fit that description but from the slew of negative comments ive read on this site and a few others about the lack of quality (now a days) of their products, i just turned the other way. I dont want to own something thats going to fail me at times i need them the most. Ive never owned one (Gerber), never held one so i cant really judge them but from what Ive read, its pretty bad.

Cold Steel has both a folder and a fixed blade called the 'Recon'. The fixed blade version is quite a bit longer than what you're looking for, though.

roscoe have you ever tried to cut up an onion or skin a squirrel with a serrated edge? one type edge ca'nt do every job. but southern calif. has few squirrels. throw a victronix parer in your pack, car & or kitchen. [about 6$]---dennis
