that would just about do it lets see it when its done

i have a marine that may (if he can find the $) have me make him something like that out of a soild piece of cpm3v
it will be hell to cut and mill out but should make do a real hard core knife

I'd be interested in a quote for that knife. Here's the specs:

Blade: 6" clip point or tanto
1/4" thick
Micarta scales

Here's a pic of the Busse Argonne. That's the style of knife I'm looking for:

I'll offer a little advise on design engineering:
A solid hickory handle on a fighter of that style is not a good idea. The handle should be either metallic (aluminum, steel, titanium) or non-breakable synthetic (Nylon,phenolic,G-10,etc.) Wood will break easily under the stress generated in knife fighting and leave the user with a blade and nothing to hold it with. The problem is too many places where the grain runs parallel to the direction of force, thus splitting off sections. On your handle the finger holes and the thumb rest are at high risk of failure.Take a look at the photo of the Busse Argonne above and you will see that the ricasso is in the center of the choil (yours is a bit too long). The knuckle guards/finger holes are integral with the blade, and the handle is unbreakable material.
Keep at it and see what your next model comes out like.

thank you guys for the tips . actually the one in the photo is the prototype. which when done will be for display only. the real fighter is still on the bench. i never gave it much thought to the ricasso. i will for sure shorten that up come time for the blade to be fitted.

On that kind of knife, I'd prefer to not have any kind of choil at all. I'd want the edge to go all the way to the guard. When you stick it in something to the hilt, this allows you to lever the blade around & open the wound if you have the oportunity. And at the least it's one less place for the blade to get hung up when you try to withdraw it. That's a funny feeling, at least when the thing stuck on yer blade is tryin' ta bite back...

i was thinking the same thing bring the edge right tight to the guard i think it will look better also and as you said more cutting leverage...

Actualy a little ricasso wouldn't hurt, just don't put a notch on the cutting edge. I realy hate them, they tend to catch on what ever your cutting. I've heard people complain that it's there to fully sharpen the edge, but I'd rather have a fraction of an inch at the plunge a little dull than catching on stuff.
