Some time back a tragedy occured in the computer shack and this is it.

I keep my orders on a file generated by wordpad. I had updated the file, adding some orders, and when I tried to close the program it went into a never ending loop and I had to shut down manually. My order file was lost and I had been too stupid and careless to make a backup.

I posted about the loss and asked all to check in. I think some, like Bob, may have missed this original thread about the loss of the order file. So if you have not checked in verifying the orders you have outstanding now is the time to do so.

Workpad continues to act very irratically, often refusing to change formats and going into the never ending loops. When I close the program then the computer will very often refuse to shut down and I must shut down manually. It is a pain and I am not capable of fixing it. But I do have a backup file now!!!!!!!

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Uncle Bill, I have ordered a Nara khukuri and one of the convention specials, do you have them logged in?

I had (have) a Kami medallion and a 25" Kumar Kobra with Grey horn handle and silver fittings. But I'm starting to doubt that will ever show up. Bill, if this is a no-go (or didn't get ordered yet due to notepad crash, or whatever) and you have a "special" blem or something someone turned down (like that Gelbu spcial with the carved handle a while back) I may go for that instead. I'm looking for some kind of "presentation" piece, but not a kothimoda-type. (prefer carving on handle rather than engraving on blade)
One of these would be nice! www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum53/HTML/000297.html

Bill,

We need to find some way to get your computer in my hands. I need a few hours to rebuild everything. It would be too big on a plane so you need to drive out to visit this Fall. I'm usually a pretty high priced tech but I'll work for blades! This is the kind of problem that will only get worse.

I could install MS Office 2000 at the same time and setup an Excel spreadsheet for you to use for ordering. It would be light-years ahead of using Wordpad! Of course, just about anything would be better than using Wordpad!

Uncle Bill:
The only thing I've got on order is a tie tack--you were out of stock when my Sirupati was shipped.

Justin.

i agree with tulsamal.
in a sense, we all have a stake in this...since the forumites order most of the special orders, it is our khukuris that fall through the cracks, and will continue to do so, if this problem isn't fixed
is anyone of the people going to the convention this weekend good enough with computers to have a look? (sorry, I'm speaking from a layman's perspective here)

Hi All.

Do you still have my custom sirupati on record? If not, let me know and I'll e-mail you all of the stuff again.

Thanks and good luck
Dave
