If you carried a belt pouch - what would it have in it?

I really like the leather pouches that Adventure Sworn sells. Great craftsmanship, quality, appearance, etc.

I've thought of making one similar, attached to the belt for use on hiking, bushcrafting, or camping. What carry items would you want to put in such a pouch?

Over 100 thread views and no other comments yet? I am considering a pouch for fire kit, sharpener stones, map... Does anyone out there use a similar pouch for easy access items?

This is the sheath making forum, not the sheath using forum. You'd probably get a better response in one of the forums under the Great Outdoors section.

I'd do a basic first aide/cpr kit... For some reason I'm always finding someone bleeding. I don't do the outdoors thing much, not many places to do that sort of thing here. When I used to hunt, I carried 3 pouches on my belt, one was first aide, second was a fire kit, a thermal blanket a small sharpening stone, extra compass and some other do-dads that I'm forgetting... and the last had some MRE's for those just in case times... Now that I'm in more of a metropolis setting... I'd want what ever the Batman had on his belt!

EDIT: and what popedandy said ;) lol

Good suggestions and I appreciate the feedback for a better posting section. I'm struggling to put questions in the right places but I'll get the hang of it here soon.

Oh and fwiw, I took a look at the pouches you mentioned by Adventure sworn, while I like some of the hasps they use they look a bit big... perhaps because I'm thinking edc and you have other things in mind but my .02, is check out Sky Storm Leather Works the price point is almost the same (a bit more actually) but in my eyes their pouch looks a bit more useful... but thats just me,

I just set up a belt pouch the other day using a Maxpedition Janus pouch, In it I have: a Cold Steel Prolite fully serrated blade folder, An Opinel #7, A film canister with dryer lint and cotton balls for dry tinder, a leather pouch with a (ferrocium rod, a flint and steel and striker), a compass, a mini led light and small bullet whistle, a leatherman juice CS4, a sharpie fine point and still a little room for a spare 45acp magazine and whatever else I come up with and lastly, A mora classic on the front of the pouch held on with the elastic cord on the pouch.
In a small pouch like you mentioned, I would carry dry tinder like I mentioned above, A mini Bic lighter, A small knife, A firesteel and maybe a few bandages and some neosporin.

Not exactly true my friend, the title is "Sheaths and Such" This is a general discussion of sheaths and related items, I do believe that pouches are related items. As far as not a sheath user forum, its exactly that and more. If we dont use what me make how can we know we're doing it right? I rotate through several of my sheaths routinely if just to make sure they wear well and stay in good shape through some minor abuse like slogging around under the truck to change the oil.

The ground up bits of people who asked too many questions.....

Jk
;)
I just dont know how to respond to this one, nope, just cant do it. :p

Apologies. I work in the building trades. When we work around the public, the average person asks way too many needless questions. 'Whats that for?' 'What is that made of?' 'What do you use that for?'

After 40+ hours it gets old. My response above, was something one of the old timers I work with said to a lady. It was hilarious at the moment. Guess it's one if those things, you had to be there.

.....maybe I was drinkin and posting.....again......?

:)

Schmittie, probably won't make a difference to you one way or the other, but thanks for your last post. Your stock went up 100%, at least with me. I appreciate it when folks rethink a post and then make it right publicly. You done good!

No worries at all my friend. :) Drinking and posting can be fun! Or embarrassing depending on the outcome. :D I had a good feeling about your post, if not for anything as I understand dry humor very well, thus my :p emoticon. Cheers!

Myself, when I'm in the Sticks (bush) I usually carry a light pack of my needs.. Not so much a fan of the pocket pouch. I carry enough stuff on my belt already. Pistol and Holster, Blade and sheath; rifle and day pack on my shoulders;bimo's around my neck..

I carry a Maxpedition H1 pouch. On it is a multi-tool, inside a PSK/repair kit
Photon light
PSK knife
Fishing gear
Duct tape
Mini fire steel
Tinder
Bandaids

the idea is if I am carrying this away from my main pack I have a few essentials.

:cool:I find it convenient to always have two small nylon belt pouches. They are really folding knife sheaths (each about 4 inches long) with Velcro closure. One holds my Victorinox Spartan knife and a small pry bar tool (PocketWrench II) with measuring scales and an opening that works as a crude wrench. The PocketWrench also has a 1/4 inch hex drive opening that fits a set of screwdriver bits that will fit in my pocket. The other pouch holds a ferrocerium sparking rod, a small amount of tinder, needle and thread, and a cutdown diamond hone for knife sharpening.

With a lockback knife and lighter in my trouser pockets and a AAA MiniMaglite and pens and handkerchief in my shirt pocket, I feel that I have a fair amount of basic equipment for most daily emergencies. If needed, I can put a multitool on my belt, though that gets to be a bit heavy most days for an urban environment. Just my daily way of being prepared.

If I owned one of your beautiful sheaths there would be no chance I would changing the oil in my truck with it on.:)

I probably shouldn't take a pic of the two I wore when I swapped the motor in my truck. :o

Still wearing both and they have that nice patina of scratches and scars, the x loops are performing wonderfully. :)
