If you could design your own custom with no price restrictions, what would it be?

I find it very interesting what people think of as their "dream knife", not so much one already in production, but if you could make your own right now with unlimited materials what would it be? My personal choice would be a 4.25" blade with S90V and S35VN damascus steel, clip point with a 30 degree inclusive bevel and engraving work along the spine. I would want it to be an IKBS flipper with a compression lock. The scales would have the same general pattern as this: http://www.williamhenry.com/knives/b05-monarch/monarch-bronc.html. I like the materials MOP, mammoth tusk, snakewood, ebony, gold, and damascus. I'm not quite sure what the exact engraving would be yet. I would want rubies on the flipper and carry clip. Finally finish it off with one of the leather lanyards william henry attaches to their knives, its a wonderful touch.

So, fellow knife enthusiasts, what is YOUR perfect knife?

mine would be a collaboration between jurgen steinau and william scagel

Wow, I can't even imagine what that would look like. The styles are almost antithetical to each other. How do you think it would come out?

I think that what Scurvy finds funny is that your answer would go better with "What are the specs of a dream carry flipper?"
When you say dream knife, most people think more along the line of what timos said. You gotta dream bigger. ;)

Clearly I need to expand my imagination! For me, my dream knife IS a flipper. I don't really have any practical application for a fixed blade. I wasn't really thinking along the lines of dream makers, but rather, what I would make if I had the skills. All answers are valid of course!

A killer Bowie of course..
also, could Joe Paranee and/or STeven Garsson do the design work ?

R.W. Loveless Dixon in chocolate brown stag and a double nude logo, no serial number scratched in...I own one....it's perfect!

Second one is a Jason Knight Founder's Fighter in damascus with black tiger stripe maple....first knife I would grab to carry to a knife fight.....that knife wants to kill something, it tried to take off my left hand!!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

A flipper Blur with kvt pivot. Textured Ti handles with 4-way clip and Elmax blade.

I don't even know what I'd do.

Probably I'd either get a Brian Nadeau Typhoon made in a left hand configuration......right now (and even a year and a half ago) he won't take such an order since he's too busy pumping out ones in righthand configuration to stop and program his CNC setup for lefthanded versions.
In simple but nicely anodised titanium probably with a nice Damascus blade of some kind.

But since I've started carrying my own work for EDC...I'd probably lean to a more collectable design instead of an EDC knife.

So I'd probably talk to the Loveless Shop or to David Broadwell about something nice....

Or I'd talk to Don Hanson for a "Big Clack"...

Or Nick Wheeler for whatever magic he's working on.....

Or Fred Rowe....
Or....
or...

Reality is I don't know WHAT I'd do with such a magic budget.

I would keep the Persian style I designed and had Mark Knapp make for me. Just don't get any better for me. KT

Money no object? OK let's go nuts... A flipper for me also, timascus linerlock with platinum scales, and a 4" flint knapped diamond blade that is somehow machined perfectly around the bearings. Any makers that want to take on this project please speak up!
