Since I was already on the Bears Ultimate Knife topic, I was just wondering if anyone has ever thought about what their dream knife would be like? imagine that you could design and manufacture your own fixed blade or folder. What would you make?

[*]blade steel
[*]Handle, sheath materials
[*]basic blade shape, handle design, pommel
[*]length, thickness, serration
[*]weight
[*]size
[*]finish
[*]What would it most resemble?
[*]What movie would it be seen in, doing what?:D

↑ That one! Only it'd be a little thinner; ground by its designer's son, and sheathed in a Wüsthoff knife block. It'd appear in a sequel to Tom Naughton's Fathead documentary where barely anyone would recognize it as it made thin slices of veggies for sauteeing in coconut oil.

And your dream knife?

Well in my mind the junglas is absolutly hands down my favorite design. I had drawn similar designs, exactly like it long before i knew of its existance. to me the knife is majestic. and one of the most perfected, simple, and effective designs that i have seen. its absolutly aestheticaly pleasing to look at, easy on the eyes, and balanced wonderfully.

because its completely similar to one of my all time favorite designs that i have drawn, i would just use ESEE's becouse its much more perfected and lets face it, if any one does...those guys know what they are doing. so running with that, i would simply shrink it down in scale about two inches. i would give it an 8 inch blade, and take a half inch off the handle length. maybe narrow down the blade and handle just enough to balance out the scaleof course. other than that i would give it ashy oaky colored miccarta handle scales, and an antiqued blade, not rusted, but old looking. A sheath pocket to stow a DMT sharpener (custom fit) like ontario has on their RTAK II sheath. a custom balistic nylon or leatherbelt and sheath frog, like a night would place his sword sheath through, or like the ones that cowboys had built into their gun holster belts that they could slide their bowie sheaths through!! the belt/frog would be a seperate unit though though. I might throw in an attachable snap fit kydex flint cartrage. that could be attached anywhere with small screws along the paracord holes. Oh yeah...And I want three!!! one to use, one to cary on my horse, or pack as backup while in the feild, and one safe and oiled at home safe in my collection.:) it would definatly be in the next RAMBO!

i honestly do not understand why Sly doesnt use a Junglas? i mean its just screaming RAMBO!

Spear point blade, 3.5 inches in length, H1 to survive a salt water enviroment, real thick blade with G10 slabs. No serrations. Being a search and rescue knife, I would love it to have a small line cutter and a window punch. Being a sailor, it would include a marlin spike. I have always liked the shape of Strider knives so I would kinda use that as a shape guide.

Did a silhouette in photoshop.

handle: canvas micarta or G10
steel: CPM154 or M4
finish: Duracoat, stonewash, or satin
thickness: .15"
blade length: 5.75"

sheath: kydex, or nylon (spec ops style)
plain edge only

The design started probably 8 months ago when I first laid my eyes on the Silver Fox Bushcraft Knife. I wouldn't say that I improved on the design at all b/c that knife in itself is a masterpiece (IMO). The FBK design (for me) encompasses everything that I like in a large survival blade/tool. The only issue that I have with the knife at this point is the weight which is something I'm willing to deal with for what the knife gives.

Specs-
5160 Steel (Hand Forged)
57-58 Rockwell Hardness
16.75" Length
7" Cutting Surface
7" Micarta Handle
.25" Blade Thickness
36 ounces (I know, I know...)

Just posted over on the custom section- so if you have comments feedback over there I'd love to here it:

My design would be a ZT 0301 with a much longer blade & handle...Somewhere around a 5.5 inch blade. I would also make it left-handed.

I've got three graph paper notebooks full of designs I'd like to own at some point. I'll post a few of my favorites.

These are just a few-again I have books I'd love to see produced.

I typically follow the lines of beefy spine (3/16ths to .2 inches) with a thin Scandinavian grind, with a high carbon steel of a hardness between RC55 and 59, depending upon intended roles of course.

I like to keep things pretty simple.

Full Tang Drop Point FFG in CPM 154 @ 62 RC and .187" thick at the spine with a Dismal taper about 4.5" long with a nice comfortable contoured handle would be nice.

I bet there are plenty of young knifemakers that would make just about anything you could want, and even somewhat affordable.

i have to figure out how to post the design. i did it in ms paint. but the materials:
blade: stonewash s30v
handle: black g10, maroon canvas micarta and red spacer
blade length: 3.25"
handle length: 4"
overall: 7.25"
liner lock
