...knife, what would it be? Let's make this interesting. One knife, for all your knife uses, 2.5" blade limit. Folder or fixed, what small knife does the most for you?
I'd go with the Umfaan. Great multi purpose blade design. Super secure lock. Top quality materials. Very versatile, anything from opening the mail to field dressing deer.

May we never be forced to actually have to make this choice.

This is truly a challenge!!

1) Spyderco Salsa- 2.5 inch flat ground blade.

I would choose this one because even though it is a small blade, the handle and blade tang are designed to be grip friendly. The blade shape lends itself to many different tasks and the Compression Lock is awesome.

2) Spyderco Pro-Venator- 2.5 inches, hollow ground drop point.

This is another useful knife. The blade shape is ideal for a myiad of tasks, while the handle is very accomodating for a variety of grips. The stainless steel, Kraton rubber inlaid handles are very stout, and the Al Mar derived mid-lock design can be trusted.

These are my ideal choices.

I think I'd have to go with a Victorinox Spartan. Not very sexy but as a non-hunter, it covers all my bases (especially when the little screwdriver is added to the corkscrew).

Though 2.5" blade limit is not my idea of "only one" folder, my choice would be Spyderco Native.

Well if I could only have one knife I certainly wouldn't pick such a tiny blade, but:

The Leatherman Wave's blade's are only 2.5", or if you won't allow that, the Kershaw Chive

I wouldn't want to live if I could have only one knife;)
I need 'em!!

It's hard enough to choose only one knife to have, and putting a 2.5" limit on makes it an even harder decision. I think I would choose the Chive also, nice blade, easy to sharpen, and that slight recurve makes it a little more useful. It also has a great "toy" factor with its speed safe mechanism.

Ya just can't make me pick one ! ;) It just isn't fair. . .

Why do you think I have so many EDC's. :D

Umfaan or Simonich Pikuni "made to order" in Talonite with a 2.5" blade.

in the worst possible case - having to rely on one blade - and a tiny one at that - I'd go to one of the custom makers (like Dozier) known for their hard working fixed blades - and have them make me a D2 working blade.

A talonite Gambit from Trace Rinaldi w/ a 2.5" blade (gotta love custom makers!!!!) but assuming I had to go production it would be a mini-talon.

Say it ain't so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that the shock is out of my system . . . :barf:
IF I get to keep other tools, it would be a small fixed blade . . . maybe a mini-talon (or my Gambit or Spook)
If I do not get to keep a multi-tool in this GHASTLY scenario then I would have to hang on to my LM Wave. A 2.5" blade is not gonna do much chopping so I'd have to have a saw!

The Wenger Handyman.
Main blade, woodsaw, scissors, awl, phillips, standard screwdriver, bottle opener, can opener, nail file, tweezers, toothpick...
the Swiss can't miss!

Allen.

I would probably have to collect stamps or beanie babies. Somebody pass the Cool Aid...

O.K. I'll play: A large SAK/Multitool
