You know, the one you traded or sold. Everyones got one at least. I have a few. The top of the list was my small Samual barlow. Had a razor blade,I swear i just swiped the rust off with my wet fingertips. The rust looked like paprika. When I saw the name and scimitar I soiled myself. Why did I let it go?:grumpy: The old stag was warped and faded and a few little bends in the liner but it walked and talked like it was new.I sent it in years ago to "what Izzit" i in the early 80's. I think it was that one in edges. I wonder if there is a record of it.That would be cool to see it again. The steel looked like damascus, but an oldtimer suggested it was probably folded over a few times perhaps to reprofile it.

Nate, we'll be talking about traditional knives in this thread.

(But don't tell anyone...I still own a Microtech or two. In fact I named the "Kestrel" for Marfione during a visit several years back.)

I had a thing for the moderns.
Another one that got away was a sleaveboard Cattaragus Whittler in Ebony.I find myself wishing I never got rid of any of my knives. I have a picture of my first collection.I should scan it.

I had an old Case stockman with bone handles in great shape that I traded long ago. I didn't really know what I had then and I got the short end of the stick in that trade.

"Black lip pearl" Schatt & Morgan tiny toothpick.

I was a "steel snob" at the time and didn't like the fact that the blade was 420HC.

What a good looking knife that was!!

It wasn't a slippie, but I had an old Schrade Sharpfinger that my uncle gave me and I traded it for a Cold Steal Voyager. This was back in my young and stupid days. Wish I could have that back. Awesome little knife. Cool lookin dog BJE. Someone should start a thread in Community Center with pics of their pets.

Back in the early 80s, just a school kid, I traded a Buck 110 for a Mexican switchblade that was probably worth about 2 bucks. :(

Most of the long-gone knives I think about were either lost or stolen.

For a period I had a thing for tacticals, so I had to have a qcq7 emerson this guy had. I traded a persian style damascus blade boot or back pocket knife. It was a collaboration, I can't remember one of the names but I think one was Jerry Fikes. It had desert ironwood handle and the sheath was like a wallet.

whoops, your right.. sorry guys

A Sheffield Jack with green cracked ice celluloid scales. Bought it when I was 7 or 8 (about 33 years ago:o). Traded it away for something worthless.

A 10 dot (70) Case Peanut slicked up and rehandled in big fat ivory slabs by Jack Woods.
Jack did some really good work and was a good man to spend time with. He taught me quite a bit. He passed away after a good long life about 11 years ago. I kept one of his peanuts, but I wish I had kept both of them.

My first knife. I was in the second grade and if I remember correctly it was a schrade stockman and that sucker bit me good! Can't remember what happened to it, but would love to have it back.

When I was growing up, my dad's main everyday pocketknife was a late 1950's stag handled Case Trapper. I broke the tip off the main blade, and I sure wish I could go back to that day and not do it!

The knife got misplaced or thrown out some time or other, and I wish I had it today broken blade or not.
