IF you could only carry ONE .....

Yes, this is another one of those ridiculous, not real world but theoretical, questions. So shoot me ..... ;)

Most of us carry more than one knife at a time, and I think have pretty well thought out the reasoning behind those choices, based on our lifestyle. Perhaps an alox Vic, but also a classic to have the toothpick and scissors. You get the idea.

After giving this question considerable thought (indicative of "too much time" on my hands ), I have come to the conclusion that if I could only carry one, it would be the Victorinox One-Hand Trekker.

If you could carry only one knife, that would meet most of your needs throughout the day, what would it be?

Victorinox Explorer Plus.

Victorinox Explorer Plus.

Powernoodle, that looks like a darn nice complement of blades/tools. Do you pocket carry it or do you use a belt sheath? Will the phillips screwdriver work on a #2 phillips, or only on the smaller ones? Thanks!

LM Charge TTi. Then the Vic Farmer. Or this Electrician Plus I keep hearing about.

Alox soldier

In a fantasy world of less civilized times, a Fallkniven F1 or Spyderco Military

84mm sportsman... lightweight... sturdy and super usefull.... besides that a alox soldier would out life me...

I have been EDCing this Vic "Champion Plus" for three weeks now and could till one of us call it quits. It has all I want and a fish scaler. I could also live with a Vic "Ranger Plus" which I have enroute. :D

Want the fish scaler too, it's really quite useful. Because the implement is a horror to use on fish (or to be more specific, the afterward cleanup), my experience with its intended function was a one-off. However, it gets a lot of use as a ruler, a probe for stuff I can't or don't want to touch with my fingers, a pick for the right kind of lock, and as a field expedient fork (good for pickles, clean thoroughly first). Maybe if Vic stopped calling the tool a fish scaler, more people would like it better. :)

If I were only carrying one knife it would have to be the Victorinox Yeoman. Same tool selection as the Explorer but quite a bit thinner.

I don't consider multi-tools knives but if it were only one multitiool it would be the LM Charge TTi or the Victorinox Spirit X.

Perfection would be my Alox Soldier with slots for tweezers/toothpick, and scissors instead of the awl ( although i use the awl alot, having scissors/tweezers/toothpick would let me carry one knife).

Vic Soldier or Farmer - actually any one of the 93mm alox family, depending on personal preferences.

(I wouldn't consider a pliers based multi as a knife in this context)

The alox Victorinox Soldier and it is my most used knife. I use its blade, awl and screw drivers for many tasks. The Leatherman Juice S2 is a great second, for EDC purposes, just a bit heavier and I don't like the blade on it very much.

Only one?

First would be the Leatherman Wave, second would be the Vic. Farmer.

I can't get into a hypothetical like this. Too many knives demanding my attention. But I have been known to drop the Farmer in my pocket and be perfectly happy with just that.

And if I go with one knife I can count on for everything, it's the Wave. But I generally carry a couple more anyway, even if the Wave is the one I reach for. I didn't even think I liked the Wave when it first came out.

Now ask me again when the weather warms up, and it's the Skeletool CX and nothing else.

I love these threads but for the life of me I can't come up with an answer. A few weeks ago I could have easily narrowed it down to a huntsman or fieldmaster. Now tho I have a swisschamp and a champion and I'm not sure which one I would choose. Heck I'm not even sure which one I'm going to carry today.
