The Ultimate 3 Piece Schrade collection:

- One fixed blade over 9" total length.

- One fixed or single blade folder between 7-9" total length

- One folder under 7" total length

What would you get? What would your "ultimate" 3 piece collection have?

1.. As Much as I raved about my XT1B, I better list that one. I like that knife. What a brute.

2... One of the PH 1 prohunters. I have a couple in Micarta, Love to have a real Loveless model with sambar stag grips. What a great big-game unzipper that knife is.

3... My favorite Schrade folder is one I have mentioned many times here: 97OT buzz saw trapper. I like the little steel pick, the tweezers, the real good saw.

I do a little hunting... well, actually, I do a lot of hunting. The three I have listed would serve any hunter, anywere in the wrold, very well.

JHouston,
Great question!
#1 15OT If I needed a big fixed blade... This would be it.
#2 127UH Its one awesome folder
#3 123OT If I had more I'd call it my EDC.. for this set a 124UH would make it real pretty

OK, then, here are mine....
1. 108OT....Very best small knife I've ever owned.
2. 152OT....Great all around knife....wicked defensive blade in the Pikal grip, with a lanyard.
3. Hmmmmmmmm....OK, the stag stockman I got from LT.....what a beauty!

Bill

PS....
Phil, my friend....which do you carry when"Hunting" Ellenville maidens????
PSS...
I know you have a fiancee.....so, just kidding. :D
PSSS...
I know I didn't get in all the right categories, I just wanted to play. :)

Well, I also am a devoted hunter and the old Timer series still has my vote.
1. Large blade would be the 165OT Woodsman. Enough heft to work large meat, cut river cane and do general camp chores. As much as I like the 15OT, the blade is just a tad oversize for my liking. I haven't tried the 160OT Mountain Lion yet, but it looks like it has possibilities. I'll try it if ebay ever chills. 66$ for them?
2. Small blade would be the 152OT Sharpfinger. It's got a good sweep angle for skinning, and the point works pretty good to do an initial puncture and as a zipper. I predict this one will be THE classic of the series for many years to come. I have several of this one just in case they stop making them some day. :footinmou
3. The folder is hard to say. I like the Uncle Henry 897 and the 895 as EDC's.
They both fit the pocket and the hand good, and I don't care for a folder so big it has to have a belt sheath. :)

A VERY provocative question!

And it's goooooooood!!!

Thank you for your generosity. :D

I don't really have a large fixed blade Schrade......so I just VOTED ( ;) ) for my 3 favorites.

Bill

Ok JHouston, You started giving out points? What do I win?
:)
Larry

The respect and admiration of your peers.
The title of "An Athority" by anybody that can't name any 3 models.
15 Minutes of fame. :D

Oh, and  from those that don't like your choices! ;)

Bonus points to anyone that posts pics of their three favorites together!

So here's the pic, where's my points? I am not saying I carry these three all the time, every hunt. I do own other brands. And I tossed the tough tool in the pic 'cause it was on my shell belt from last trip out. But again, these three would serve almost anyone, anywhere.
Phil

Large fixed-160OT. Good all around blade for hunting, camping, etc.

Large folder- 125OT. My favorite Schrade overall.

Small folder- 123OT. This was a tough one because the 8OT is such a great knife and I also like my 96OT alot, but the 123OT is such a classic pattern that it gets the nod.

Now that the choosing part is over, I'm thankful I don't really have to choose and get to keep them all.

Bill... to impress the lovely ladies of Ellenville, I carry my Queen-made, Winchester trademarked, mother of pearl texas toothpick. Pinched and grooved bolsters, of course. No less a knife pro than Jerry Fisk says that "a gentleman always carries an MOP knife". So what if I'm not a gentleman, you gonna argue with the Bowie maker?

Phil

I would think that Phil's Margarita shirt, a pearl handled folder ( I'd never argue with a National Treasure), and maybe that Schrade Trapper with the saw, are all a man would ever need.
Why the one with the saw? Margarita shirt = margaritas = errant judgement = coyote ugly = realizing the need for the saw. :o

Just joking, as always. :D

Bill

Hey Phil: When you hold out your impressive Winchester, the ladies of Ellenville are all going to giggle and hold out about 10 Schrades. You might want to get all your ducks in a row before you try a pick-up line like that. He He. My ultimate 3-knife collection would be a $1,000 75th Anniversary knife, a WWII commemorative set and any one of the D'Holder "cutout" knives. NICE!! I know this is more than 3 knives, but it is only 3 items. I do have to admit though...the idea of a Margarita shirt might just outweigh the Winchester thing.

UH Fan,

After working at Schrade for all those years, have you collected any of the knifes on your top 3 list and if not have you collected any of the others?

Inquiring minds need to know!
Larry

P.S. Did you see the link with Phil's picture in his famous Margarita shirt?

None of the three on my list...they were way out of my price range, but I did manage to collect a few others for my Son. He has all 4 of the DU decoy knives, quite a few of the outdated Schrade Cut Co. knives, a bunch of different limited editions and a Kious knife. Wasn't able to grab as many as I would have liked, but most limited edition knives weren't really made available to the employees. If there was anything left after orders were filled, they were offered in the employee store, along with mostly seconds. I got more of a kick out of talking to all of the people and researching the history than I did out of collecting the knives. My challenge was trying to get a photo of each one. Yep, I saw the margarita shirt....it's much nicer than the Winchester knife he plans to flash.

Those pinched and grooved bolsters on Phil's Toothpick.

I'm sure it's a LARGE/Full sized toothpick......and when eyeing the Ladies of Ellenville, I bet it's just a LITTLE pinching.....and a LOT of grooving, for Phil.

:D
Bill

WHOOO-PIIIIIGGGGG-SOOOOIIIEEEE!

......uuhhmmmmm for me it would be the Schrade 1983 heritage splitback whittler in green bone. The Tennessee river trapper and the old timer muskrat.

Being a class gentleman is no doubt the only way to one of those lovely ladies of Ellenville's hearts. No oogling, no pinching, no grooving. Women the world over respect men who respect them. I can only imagine the lovely, chaste maidens of Ellenville hold men to an even higher standard.

Now, when is PLAYBOY magazine doing the special 'Ladies of Ellenville' spread?
