If you could only have one, CR Mnandi or the William Henry EDC...

These two have my interest, though I can't swing both and the CR will be a bit much for me as I never thought of spending that much on a knife...

Like them both but wondering if there is anything I am not thinking of or any pros/cons...anyone own both to compare?

Thanks

The William Henry is much easier to flick open and shut. Tape the edge of the blade when you first practice your technique. The ZDP-189 blade will retain an edge longer than CPM S30V. I like the B-15 size and the Titanium handle.

Didn't we already go over this? For what it's worth I have a mesquite handled Mnandi coming to me, and I'll look at this William Henry as a classy EDC if I can get it for under $200 like you found.

Not going with that place as they aren't an AD and the guy who replied seemed somewhat suspect, thus the decision is still open.

Do you want D2 or do you want S30V blade steel?
Do you want an Aluminum handle or do you want a Titanium handle?
Do you want a thumbstud or do you want a thumb notch?
Do you want a button lock or a frame lock?
Do you want a drop point blade or a clip point blade?
Is this going to be used as an EDC or are you going to carry it every so often as a gentleman's knife?

These are all questions you should consider for yourself. While it's nice to have other's opinions, ultimately the decision lies with you and what you are looking for in a knife. Don't rely on others to tell you what you should purchase.

1. No Clue, should I be considering one over the other?
2. Is one better than the other, I understand ti is probably more durable but in this case does it matter?
3. Preferably thumbstud, not a big notch fan but it isn't a dealbreaker
4. Like the concept of the button lock more than frame for this type of knife
5. Like both blades
6. EDC but more like a gentleman's knife as the most it will see is opening small boxes, letters, and other light duty cutting, but would like something that could hang with my keys if it needed to and not look like crap shortly thereafter.

I have a Mnandi and have limited interest in that particular William Henry model. I'd say it's about the same as for most things in that you get what you pay for.

1. I'm guessing the WH is one-handed, whereas the Mnandi is ambidextrous.

2. Mnandi is titanium handled.... cannot beat that!

3. Blade profiles are a matter of preference, and both have the same blade-length:handle-length ratio. WH is slightly lighter, if that matters, which is doesn't really. Mine is essentially weightless in my pocket.

4. Mnandi is easier to keep clean and is far simpler construction with larger screws.

5. Frame lock vs. button lock? No contest for strength, simplicity or durability.

6. Mnandi is simpler/classier looking. That WH looks too busy to me.

That's my (admittedly prejudiced) opinion.

Either way, you're going to have a nice or super nice knife in your pocket.

Only one?
Mnandi.
I wouldn't know for sure, but I'd bet a few bucks that the Mnandi is considerably stronger than the WH EDC. A little extra strength is a good thing, IMO. The jeweled WH thumbstuds are a bit over the top for me, too.
Mnandi... for sure.
It just looks classier.

Well for the Mnandi vs. WH EDC you are paying more for the Mnandi, but I feel the price is there for the materials used. I too was in the struggle between these two, but ultimately knew I'd be happier with the Mnandi and I don't regret it! :D

Pros for Me: Titanium Framelock, s30v, wood that fills entire length of the handle on both sides.

Like others have said its basically all about personal preference from here. However I did want to point out that both will get scratched up pretty bad and the edges can get considerably dulled by your keys going through the open back and hitting them. That is if the WH is an open back, to tell the truth I'm not sure but I know the Mnandi is. I would suggest finding a new place for your keys and dedicating one pocket just for your folder. I carry my folder in my front right pocket and my keys and other crap in my left front now days. That or get a pocket sheath. The Mnandi will be protected from scratches more though because of the nearly full length wood inlays, whereas the black anodized aluminum will look like utter hell in a matter of weeks if you team it up with the keys.

Both very nice knives for sure though.
