What style and size of ESEE knife would you get if you could only have one? I have another thread, but I'm trying to gauge what people feel is their favorite and easiest to carry around every day.

I am thinking a 3 or 4, serrated.

Thanks a lot guys! I should have a rat pack number by the end of the month!

ESEE 3. Perfect. And it comes in Orange/OD. Perfect.

What Moose said... So far I only own a 4 with the nice orange G10 handle but I've seen the 3 in a shop some time ago and had it attached to my belt. Great EDC knife, especially for a concealed carry. Might be the one I'll get as my first serrated at some point...

But it really depends on how you wanna carry it as an EDC... Attached to your belt? Concealed or open? As part of a kit? Might be good to know what you're planning.

um an IZULA II wa wa waaa sorry. if not my IZULA i will cary a folding blade. like a spyderco dragon fly and military i have in bound. i cant carry to big cause 1.people at work will call me rambo, 2. if i need to use a blade over 3" it will be a machete to cut brush. 3. if i have to go hands on with a subject i dont want the handle screaming "grab me and stick this gringo" i think the recommendation needs to based on your needs and wants cause there are chingos of options.

+1! But I am becoming fond of my HEST. . . .

Another vote for the 3. Excellent blade indeed.

Thanks for the quick answers! Most boards would haze me for asking dumb questions so I really appreciate the non-smart-ass answers. And that's not directed at 'deadeye' at all....the reason I said non-izula is because I see a difference between the izula and a 3 or 4 and would carry both. the izula would be easier to fit in a jeans or jacket pocket or a small pouch on my bag while the 3 or 4 would go on the belt or outside of my bag.....I'll prob. carry both.

guruthos- I'd like some versatility. I'll throw it on my belt, in an inner-jacket pocket if possible or possibly outside of a boot (inside?) with the clip.....or inside my jeans with the clip. I also like the MOLLE-attached carrier for putting on a bag I carry around.

derek - will look more into the hest!

Between this thread and my other, I got tons of great information without catching any grief. Thanks again my dudes!

I thought it was cool to carry guns and big knives in texas? I"m in Nebraska and I wouldn't get TOO many looks unless I was in an uppity part of town. If I was there, I'd like them to be scared of me so they don't try to talk to me.

Also, I know what a gringo is but what is a chingos? Is it like an anti-gringo? ;)

chingos means a pleothra- 3 amigos..... still no sabe......chingao.... then a lot. i dont carry big knives cause i dont need a big blade every day- when i can get into camping and hunting again or hell even knife throwing :D i will get a bigger blade- but what is great everybody has their reasons- me if i get in a fight and my blade is taken i want a little biddy piss ant blade carving me up instead of a big ole pig sticker so as when i get to my gun the lead dispensing begins. and this is a very real scenario for me not some crazy fantasy- i hope i never have to go hands on but i want to be mentally prepared and dont want my gear back firing on me- hell maybe the izula will bite the assailant upon unsheathing it.

If I could only have 1 knife and it had to be EDC-worthy, I would pack my HEST.

3 for EDC
4 for general use knife

Thanks guys. You've been a lot of help.

Once I get my recent order and new order in, I'll try to take some pictures to show other people. I got my rc-3 and rc-4 a little after they split from Ontario and have been a huge fan since - good price for a good knife, not overpriced BS that people have to fight for.

If you know about any current deals for a serrated 3, 4 or a regular 5 please PM me if board etiquette prohibits links.

Another mention of the hest. I'll look into maybe picking one up once I can afford another 3" plain edge........probably next payday.

Or I could pick one up and try to make my own serrated edges with a diamond hone, triangle or circular.

If you can find one, that is . . . I believe that they're no longer being produced.

I EDC my 4 and love it. Have it strapped to my belt and sometimes forget it's even there.

ESEE 3 - my 3 gets more use than all my other knives combined; good size for EDC.

I cast my vote for the HEST. I really enjoy this knife, and it goes with me everywhere. And for what it's worth, I have an ESEE_3 and it stays in my car as a back-up knife. That is, until my ESEE-4 comes in soon. And yes, I will post pics of "the gang" later.

I can't decide which is BEST.
I rotate between the 3,4 and HEST. I use 'em and LOVE 'em!!!
I have a 6 coming too and I know that it is big for EDC BUT there are NO blade length laws here so..... I'm sure it will see it's fair share of belt time.
Good luck with your decision.

ESEE-3MIL CP.

Best compromise of size vs. utility. Can be used for everything from mundane chores to bushcraft and self defense.

If I lived more in the sticks and didn't have to worry about stampeding the sheeple, it would be an ESEE-6 CP.

Why? Just because.

But in the real world, I mostly carry and use my Izula.
