The title pretty much sums it up. What are your thoughts Hogs of the Round Trough?

They should both serve you well but given you are trying to pick one, here are my thoughts.

I have a FSH and a SHBM (very similar to the Anniversary Battle Mistress) and they weigh about the same at 21.8 oz. But with the SHBM I pick up 2" of blade at 10" vs 8". Note that the OAL is only an inch different as the handle on the SHBM is more compact.

A longer blade for chopping and for use with a baton gives me more knife. Since weight is a big factor in all of my gear (lighter is generally better) the weight to size advantage of the SHBM makes it the better knife for me.

If I had to pick one it would be the Anniversary Battle Mistress.

If you have never held an SHBM, you should. some don't care for the Straight handle feel, and like the newer handles better. It is a matter of taste.

Hard to say without comparing them side by side but going on numbers alone, I would choose the BM.

Cobalt and I are 100% together on this..Why !!!?? would any one want a SH when you can have a Battle Mistress

What he said.

Both are great and have their place. That being said if I could only have one then it has to be the iconic SHBM.

Glad I do not have to choose between them. I can play with either one.

I'm waiting on a NMFSH because it's awesome. ...and out now!

I'd hate a through a monkey in the grinder, but if one goes into the whole reach vs weight issue I think you'd be hard pressed to rule out the 1311/ MOAD.

I drooled about an fsh before getting my NMFSHs, I bought two because I couldn´t decide wich color.... if I had to choose betwen the SHBM and the NMFSH, I´d go for the NMFSH ALL THE WAY, :shape, finish and fusion handle...I honestly do not like the shape or the ergos of the SHBM, it looks boring and uncomfortable to me (a while ago, a forum member stated that it is terribly uncomfortable for a work tool...I´ll look for the link, it wasn´t long ago)...but hey...I might end up liking it once they are gone...so I´m getting one just in case ...probably two in case I end up undesisive about the color.

It truly is a matter of taste. Many people they decide they don't like something based on it's looks, which is why the ERGO line is so overlooked. Fact is that as ugly as the ergo's are, they are actually some of the most comfortable handles I have ever held. Let your hands decide, not your eyes.

Oh yeah, Cobalt is right, I would guess many people including me, judge by the looks. I do it because I look at my knives all the time and use them just a few hours a week. And that could be a lot of time for most of the people. But the organic shapes of the fusion handle aren´t arbitrary or merely aesthetical at all, they are contoured to fit the big majority of hand sizes.

I compare the SHBM to a thick machete actually, that´s is why I dont consider it so gracious. And I can anticipate the feeling of it...I´m inlove with the fusion handles, but doesn´t matter how much I liked them before having them, I like them now, that I have used them... and I dont think Custom Shop is an option on modifiying it to be more ergonomic, since it is sopposed to have the Light Brigade treatment?...Can anybody please comment here!!!

But you can have two.

Heck, you can have 22.

You can have even more if your refi on your house gets approved.

True... however the numbers are off... for the Question, it was between the NMFSH and the Aniversary Battle Mistress... the NMFSH's Blade is 9.5 inches and the SHBM is 10..

Personally, I would have to feel the ABM handle first... I know I love the Fushion already...
