If you could pick....

S30V. It's the newest thing. A blade steel designed to be used as a blade steel with input from Mr. Reeve himself. To be sure, BG-42 and ATS-34 are great steels that would meet my needs with no trouble (and truth be known I really like BG-42), but I tend to go with the latest generation. Kind of like buying the newest type computer.

D2 steel, new wonder steels come and go but D2 is nearly 100 years old and still being used in industry and for knives. I expect 30V will disappear soon when the next wonder steel pops up.

S30V, BG-42 and ATS34 in that order, BUT all would make a great folder depending on the other materials used. A sebenza in aay of these steels would be a winner, but I'd take S30V first (and did).

since some other are tryin to hijack the thread, not really a problem though, i'll do it to my self

how about large ats-34 vs small s 30v

I haven't found there to be that much difference between the BG and S30V from Reeve's shop. Probably would vote for BG.

Man, a D2 'Benza would be the balls, though. That is something I would not mind having.

From a practical point of view it's S30V. If you can get it; the Devin Thomas Ladder or Raindrop Damascus is stunning looking but also keeps a great edge.

My 154CM blades all seem to perfrom well. I wouldn't mind a Sebenza with a 154CM blade.

Devin Thomas damascus is very nice.
