We're completing the wood scales for the UF pre-order now.

I was planning to use used smelly hammer handles for the wood but those are surprising scarce right now so I settled on some very nice Osage Orange, some really good old-stock African Blackwood (the old really dark stuff, not the new brown stuff you see these days), dark cocobolo and a few cocobolo with black-on-black liners with integral bolster. The bolster was an experiment to put micarta on the front of the wood to be more durable in a kydex sheath and they turned out pretty good.

Jo will select a set of scales at random as she's going along, but if you have a preference she will try to take your preference into consideration if you will go back and edit your order and send her an email.

So. If you have a preference you should let her know. Otherwise your scales will be selected randomly (whatever is next in the drawer).

Remember, as stated in the pre-order, the wood is "of my choosing" so ultimately you-get-what-you-get, but I want to at least try to accommodate folks preferences.

Well.... I was really looking forward to some smelly old hammer handle wood with lots of character..... but I guess your choice of one of the woods you listed will be satisfactory.:p

I'm sorry Mike. I had one really dank set of really funky hammer handle scales that smelled like despair but I'm setting those aside for Matty and his aluminum UF.

I just realized that aluminum reads muni-mula backwards! It can't be that bad then Nathan, eh? I mean being in the muni & having some mula left too? :D

Mike, you seem to have missed out on that smelly old hammer wood + aluminum blade special edition DE-UF, which Nathan correctly decided to dedicate to me with the BMF moniker.

Since we are now V good friends and CA softies, I'll begrudgingly propose a semi-straightforward even-trade for your upcoming Dagger! OK, since I know that you tend to drive a V hard bargain, you can also throw in a ham sanni, bag-o-chips and a Diet Coke! But don't push me lest I back out!

I've been trying to become more enlightened and less selfish (I've been searching for it at the bottom a bottle of 1942, can't say I'm there yet, but it is an enjoyable journey) lately, so I will concede that uncle Matty should have those scales and that fine metal for his personal blade. Though I would not wish despair on Matty, no doubt, the constant smell of it will, increase his purchases of household air fresheners and get him outside for more frequent walks with that beautiful pup of his. And, I hear that sunshine is supposed to be somehow good for despair, one way or the other. Isn't that why all live in the United States of California?:p Mike

Matty, Matty...... Since you bring up us living in California, you know that the drink will be kombucha, the sandwich; an organic, free range, sliced turkey, with organic avocados, hydroponically grown tomatoes, and fresh sprouts on Paleo certified bread, with avocado oil based mayo. The chips will have to be from thick sliced, baked sweet potato with purified sea salt and organic cayenne pepper. And there cannot be any sheath scratches on that mirror polished aluminum! Looking forward to that sweet smell of despair along with that oil soaked, paint splattered, residual duct tape adhesive, splintery, embedded carpet tack, rat pooped, anonymous carved initials, blood spattered, dried insect guts, eye screw mounted handle. Mike
