.. what would you get? :D

i've been looking @ some neck knives.. i really like Newt Livesay's low-priced knives, tho i haven't heard any good news as far as ETA's go after orders..

but anyways.. i'm not limiting to neck knives.. just wonder what you'd get if you found $40 in an old jacket what knife you'd look @?

P.S.
and i know there are those of you who are gonna tell me to put it towards a higher-end model, but i dunno if i trust myself with a knife much more than $60 yet.. i'd be afraid of losing it or damaging it.. and i also lost my sharpening equipment and need to save up for a Sharpmaker or something..

so any input would be great, and i'd be thankful! :)

Well I'd get that PE Spydie Dragonfly or the Mini Griptilian in the For Sale forum.
New, I'd get a Kabar Dozier $20 and save the other $20 for a sharpmaker

but guys it takes so long to save money! :(

Edit:
i think Harry might be right on this tho.. i should probly get a Sharpmaker while i've got the spare cash.

If it was $40.00 and you were determined to get a knife, I'd say, either get a Kabar Dozier and an ultimate pen knife, or a kabar dozier and a CRKT Carson F4. $40.00 isn't enough to get you something you're going to care about, unless it becomes a trusted companion, so you might as well get as good as you can get. Of course, there's also the Spyderco Delica (a favorite of mine), but I'd still go with the kabar.

Sincerely,
Anthony

Do what I did: I got the rereleased Spyderco Calypso Jr. Awesome knife, design and steel.

i know i should save up money for something like a Sebenza (my dream knife), but i'm terrible @ saving money, don't get much money to save, and like you've already noticed, i've been told i'm a bit impatient, haha.
i think i'm gonna have to find a 2nd job over the summer, what'cha think? haha.

Anthony:
you nailed it on the head when you said "trusted companion".. i really do prefer getting knives i don't feel i have to baby around (even tho i know i shouldn't baby a nice knife, i can't help it), so i like to find things in the $60 range.. my Camillus MiniCuda is one example of a trusted companion.. it's saved lives! i'm sure as my knife-knowledge matures i'll catch up and learn better money habits and work some overtime, then i can eliminate some of the "determination" heh heh..
i've heard good things about the Dozier here and on the Candlepower Forums.. and also about the Ultimate Pen Knife (it was on my birthday list!).. i hadn't paid the F4 any attention until now too, thanks for the tip.

enkidu & red:
i currently have a gray PE Calypso Jr. (collector's club #135) en route!

thanks guys!

I'd save up ten or fifteen more dollars and pick up a nice blem khukuri from Uncle Bill at Himalayan Imports.

If I found $40 in an old jacket, I'd know it was my lucky day, and go find the $35 that good old drunken uncle Dieter lost in the couch cushion last Christmas, and buy myself a Benchmade 551.:D.

CRKT Lightfoot M1 would be my first choice. :) That Gerber-Hinderer would vie for that same spot, though...... Hard decision.

Necker? A second-hand EKI LaGriffe. Those cool damascus Winston "The Key" knives are known to pop up every once in a while, too, on the secondary market.

Utility tool? You should be able to find a Blackwood or Nemesis (Jeff Hall Mid-Tech) Ti-Card for around $50.

I'd get a BM 556 or a Spyderco Native...
Really nice knives to hold and EDC...

Although the BM is about $50++...

I miss my BM 556...the spring broke and i haven't got to sending it back...hehehe...it's been a couple of months now...

These days, a Fallkniven U2. Maybe not exactly $40. Supposed to be one of the sharpest little production folders out there.

probably the new busse Natural Outlaw, oh wait I thought you said 400 dollars my bad. I'd probably get me a new multitool.
