Hi All, I am having a hard time deciding between a NMSFNO or a SARSquatch.
I will be using it for all around use of camping, hiking, hacking/chopping, maybe butchering a deer who knows, etc...
Any insight or opinions on these two blades would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Get both!!

Just kidding.

Both of them feel like they will/should perform very well in the field. (I had the SARSquatch, and got to check a couple of the NMNO's out at a show)

Each has it's own handling and grip characteristics.

Of the two, my hand preferred the NMNO with mags right out of the box.

Get one, and if it doesn't fit/work for you, you can always trade into the other.

Would be cool if there was a lender program available..maybe a close by hog can meet up with you.

Great info, thanks guys.

I'll post what I end up with once I decide.

Thanks again and Happy New Year.

I (like many) have both.

I really like the SARsquatch but I love the NMSFNO. The feel of the NMSFNO is just it between the two.

I would love to have a NMSFNO without the NM on it. I would love to have the squared spine - meltdown on the back of the handle would be fine. The 8" blade of the NMSFNO is nice.

I have the NMSFNO and am getting the SARsquatch too. Another vote for both and if you prefer one sell the other though I'm sure like anyone who's ever tried this they end up with a 3rd and 4th knife before either of the first two are sold.. :D

The swedge on the SarsQ bugged me when trying to baton something but it was a great chopper.

I'd love to find out if any made it out of the shop without the swedge. That would be near perfect.

:D

Yeah, I'm not crazy about that swedge. I wonder if you could grind it flat and turn it into a clip point? Photochop anyone?

actually someone did do it. check on the scrapyard forum. check back to posts made maybe 2 months ago. It looked really good.

I have both. Being a SAR nerd the SARsquatch is near perfect as Jerry incorporated a lot of feedback and descriptions of the tasks we generally come across. The swedge is a drawback for me but it is a great knife and I am tempted to keep it as my only thinner/lighter carry Busse. It is around 3/16ths vs. 1/4 on the NMSFNO. The NMSFNO is a better if you can only have 1. It is a great chopper, batons like no tomorrow. The SFNO lineage makes it an outstanding camping knife.

Where are you btw? As a general announcement... It helps if people at least put their region in their profile location. People will help you out if they know you are in the neighborhood. I am in the Portland, Oregon area and would show you both of 'em if you were near here.

I would personally go with the SSq. It is perfect although I despise swedges, it doesn't bother me on this model and certainly doesn't detract from performance.

I updated my profile, sorry about that.
I am in Central Massachusetts.
Thanks for all of the info...im still deciding....this is not easy.

updates to come.....

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
