If you had a rucky you didn't want...?

I just traded for 3 ruckis. I have no use for 2 of them, and i'm eventually going to sell them.

Would it be worth hanging on to them until the stop being sold in the SRKW store? Do the prices on Swamprats usually go up when they are discontinued, or are they pretty stable?

I don't NEED the money, so i don't have any problem holding on to them for a few months, but i will never have any use for 3 of em

No no no, you give them away to a fellow forumite, I can pm ya my address :D

Of course they will go up, unless they make enough for everyone.

RG, i know what infi does when you discontinue it... there's usually a HUGE jump, but i wasn't sure if SRKW blades were that kind of popular.

This is my first visit to swamprat ownership

Something is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay, and supply and demand decides what people will pay for something. It's a knife that most people have NO use for, so that limits the amount of people who will buy it, and then you have the Waki which comes up for sale much less often than the Rucki...that alone will make it bring more money.

Will the price go up? Yeah probably a little, maybe enough to buy a nice dinner but you won't get rich from it. This is a community with the feeling of a brotherhood, and everyone here has certain interests in common and that's why we are here. Why hold these knives that you don't want just so you can make a few dollars? Especially when you will mostly likely sell them within this community. Sell them and get them in the hands of someone who will really enjoy them, just think how sad those poor Ruckies will be sitting in a dark corner somewhere.

You make a good point. I don't care that much about a few dollars.

As soon as i figure out which of the 3 i want to keep, the other two will go on the block. Maybe i'll see if i can trade them for some infi :)

Already have an AK47 coming, but maybe i can get a mistress

Why don't you like micarta?

I really don't know. I had had a half dozen or so knives of various sizes with micarta scales, and i don't like it as much as G10

One thing i really don't like is the way it discolors with use, but more than that, i just don't like the way it feels.

Guess no one can really say for sure. My guess would be at some point in time you could atleast sell it for exactly what you bought it for. My prediction is that they will be worth more eventually.

I've got 2 with micarta... It really feels great on the Rucki.

I like the micarta better for wet conditions ,G-10 can and will slip out of the hand when wet,Plus i like the greenish color of the black canvas

Swamp Rats have a following very similar to that of the Busse knives. Over on the Rat Chat most of us prefer our SRKW blades over anything Busse has ever put out. SR101 (any 52100 for that matter) imo is the best all around cutlery steel ever used. If you ever get the chance you owe it to yourself to try out a RMD or Chopweiler but if you get a Choppy your Busse collection may start to tremble for fear of being sold off to fund more Choppys.

You can always send them into the shop and I will make sure that they are kept safe and sound. I promise not to use them much. :D

I would love a Ruki. I wish I had been around for the original release of the AK and the Ruki from Busse.

Very interesting- I feel just the opposite. G10 feels a little too cold/hard/sharp for me, but I love canvas micarta. G10 does seem to be becoming more popular.

I agree I think canvas micarta is the best knife handle material ever. Well for users anyways. I could see why someone would like G10 on a 1000 dollar knife that will never see use beyond looking amazing but on a knife I plan to beat the day lights out of (which is what Swamp Rats are best at) id take micarta any day.
