I found a nice little shop in Ueno station with a nice big selection of those babies. Most of them run 15 to 30$ depending on the size and type you want.

Unfortunately, your butt can get in a *major* sling if you get nabbed importing them. It's like when I drive to Canada...why, I've heard of *some* people that actually cross the border, buy them by the boxfull, remove all the labels, then ship them back via separate carriers and tehm put the labels back on in the safety of their homes to store in their humidors...

BTW, be very careful...there is a great market for counterfeit cigars.

i was trying not to get into the well-known particulars, i just wanted to let interested parties know about it...so let me know if you are and ill think up something...

I dunno, the cigars from the Dominican Republic are fine enough that I don't need the cachet of some commie stick.
I had a C.A.O. Odyssey recently that was just exquisite.

Why would somebody pay $30 to smoke something that makes you stink and doesn't even get you high?

Ben, you're absolutely right! Great point. I'd stay far, far away from them if I were you. In fact, if you even see a cigar store, run away! I'm already paying high enough prices as it is; the last thing I want to do is help increase demand by recruiting new aficionados while supply remains the same.

I've had a couple corona sized Cohibas that a missionary brought back for me (God bless him), and I will tell you that they were very enjoyable, with a rich, earthy aroma, yet very smooth. But having said that, I have since had some Dominican, Nicaraguan, and yes, even Brazilian cigars that I enjoyed as much or more. Cubans are up there, no doubt, but 1) they definitely do not have a monopoly on fine cigars, and 2) there are many up and coming makers that are not yet well known who are putting out some amazing, and very consistent cigars, very well made, and at midrange prices (around $5 - $9; a steal for what they deliver).

I tried a CAO Brazilian that I didn't have high hopes for, but really surprised me. Great flavor, no bitterness, draw was just right, even burn, stayed lit, and had a pure white ash that held together like crazy. My friend said he hated his, even though we usually share the same tastes regarding cigars. YMMV.
