HOORAY! I e-mailed Lee Valley and asked them why they don't carry the GB Small Forest Axe, and if they could get me one. Here is their reply:

"Thank you for your inquiry. We are introducing the Gransfors Bruks AB Small Forest Axe (as well as a few additional axes from this company) into our product line. The product # 48U0503 has been assigned to this axe; however it is not yet in stock. We have an expected arrival date near the end of June 2002. The current price list for this axe is $89.00. All prices are quoted in Canadian funds and do not include shipping and handling fees or any applicable taxes.

When they become available they will be listed on our Web site, but we do not presently have plans to advertise them in our catalogues."

Lee Valley prices sure beat trying to get stuff sent to Canada - so I'm really pleased that they've decided to carry most of the line. maybe I should order one of those Dakotas before they get their main shipment...

I made further inquiries about the availability of the Gransfors axes. These new additions will not be available through the catalog OR THE STORES. If you want one, you have to call and ask!

So, I think I just made my Wildlife Hatchet versus Small Forest Axe decision!
