Ok knife nuts. Heres a question for ya. If you were in the market for a small beefy edc which would you choose?
The three knives that I am considering are the boker albatros, boker pipsqueak and the spyderco techno. I am the most fond of the pipsqueak so far but not by much. I honestly feel I'd be pleased with any of the three. I'm looking for opinions on the upsides & downsides of each knife mentioned. Likes & dislikes. Also which knife would you choose over the others & why? Last, if there's a small tank of a knife out there other than these three worth considering please fill me in. Any guidance or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Pipsqueak. The only thing I don't like is its price tag.

The Albatros is nice as well, pretty much just a budget version of the aforementioned knife.

I've handled a Benchmade 755 and it's also a very nice stubby EDC.

Id pick the boker albatros.. id have one right now if funds allowed.

Techno, cool blue backspacer and full-flat ground blade. The Albatros isn't nearly pointy enough for me, I like a pointy tip.

Spyderco Gayle Bradley. Built like a tank, built for work, amazing price point for what you get. They average 130 on the 'bay and elsewhere.

Thanks for all the input everyone! I'm still undecided. I want the pipsqueak but I'm not sure if I can justify spending the extra $$ on it over the albatros. The spyderco techno is in the same boat as the pipsqueak. Are they worth the extra $ over the albatros? The gayle Bradley is a great deal but is a little larger than what I'm looking for this time around. On the small side...I have two nanos. One green, the other orange. It's a nice little knife for $45. I'm just looking for something small & over built for its size.

The best blade-steel of the three is the Techno. CTS-XHP is special. VG-10 and S35VN are not slouches either, but I'd pick the Techno. I've had three Technos and will hopefully not sell/trade this one. A great knife.
I also have a BM 755 MPR, which was reco'd earlier by a poster. It has m390 blade-steel which as good or better than the Techno's blade. My 755 MPR is a tank, but I nevre carry it....NEVER. IT's too fat; too heavy, but is priced very cheaply quite often here on the Exchange, around or so. Still, get the Techno. Easier to carry; no-stick lock, very good steel; love it. IMO

The Techno would be my choice, as I've had more than 1 bad experience with Boker. Have you looked at the Spyderco Native 5? Its a very solid knife that carries really well and feels great in the hand.

I'm sure the Bradley is a nice edc. From what i gather, it's just larger than what I'm looking for with my next purchase. If I'm not mistaken its overall length is over 8in. I have a few knives roughly that size. Thank for your input regardless because you have opened my eyes to yet another nice edc that has an attractive price point.

The native 5 is a cool little knife! I just saw a moonglow sprint run version.
Before I started this thread I was leaning towards the Techno. To be honest it was my first choice. Then the more I looked at the pipsqueak, the more I liked it and do on. Now I'm starting to think I should stick with my first choice. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Techno. Is $165 shipped for a new one a pretty good deal?

I really appreciate your input. That BM 755 IS a tank! Awesome post btw my friend! Great point on blade steel. Further seals the deal. I'm buying a techno!

I have the Boker Albatros and love it . If you get one make sure it is from the 2nd run. The first run had problems with lock rock. The 2nd run is solid. I have been thinking about getting a Strider PT to fill the same slot.I'm not 100% on the specs but it might be worth it to go check out the new offerings from DPX their HEFT line.
