If you were only able to have (or afford) one knife. What would it be? Why?

I had to decide on my Benchmade Griptilian 551 PE

strong tip great all around knife. 154 cm.

Why would I only be able to have one knife?

I have three knives on me right now.

Like if space aliens came and said "You can only have one knife."?

Well screw those guys....I'm having more than one.

ok, so now i need a scenario lol.

alright guys, the "fit has hit the shan" and a new political and econiomic structure is being built. Now at this point food isn't always as easy as finding it at the grocery store. out of necessity you have to barter all but one of your knifes, as well as other luxuries, just to have food, water, and other vital necessities. Now as men we all know that a knife is a vital tool and keep one from our collection. What is it?

(sorry for the dumb scenario, but I had to think of something)

I think I'd be needing more than one knife if the world came to an end.
 
In that scenario...I am gonna be knifed up! :D

I'll quit bustin' your chops.....Vic Super Tinker.

And a Fallkniven F1. Maybe something big like a Ranger RD9. And I do like the Case Peanut I edc....a good chef's knife would be required...never know when a machete is gonna come in handy (zombies could be behind the politicosocioeconomic upheaval...)...

BTW this is very amusing.
NEW SCENARIO. Same as last but you keep more than one knife, due to dangerous situations you can't always stay in the same place (go rogue). So what KNIVES do you keep one you.
(i'll change mine as well)

1.Cold Steel Finn Bear
2.Cold Steel Kobun
3.Spyderco Paramilitary 2
4.Leatherman Fuse

Now that I have more options my 551 is no longer in the line-up, thanks guys
 
Folder- probably tie between S90V CF Manix 2 and CF M390 gold class 710. Id probably go with the 710 though
Fixed- It would have to be a knife that could do it all. Swamp rat Mini Mojo black and tan G10 and black blade.
 
Whichever knife I happen to have in M390:thumbup:. Holds a nice edge like CPM-M4 but is about as easy to sharpen as S30V(from what I could tell), and won't chip as easily as S110V. Right now it's my BM 581, but hopefully I'll be able to add 3 more to that collection.
 
If the post-apocalyptic Mad Max scenario was reality, I'd have a fixed blade of some kind. No more need for folders when your EDC is survival gear anyway... :)
 
Well im assuming this prob wont ever happen and if it does it will be in StarWars era so imma have to say lightsaber. What do I win? :D

What do you win? why do you need anything else. you have the ultimate item. A lightsaber.

folders wouldn't be nearly as essential, but they are still easier to carry
 
for instance i'me gonna have to fixed blades on me already. so i'll stuff the folder in a pocket
