I just received my first order from Arizona Desert Ironwood in the USA. Their website is located under:
http://www.arizonaironwood.com./

These guys have a terrific website and their product is even better. This is the best ironwood I've found. The fellow who runs it is Robert Bradley and he was a pleasure to deal with. I was a bit concerned ordering wood sight unseen, but the product is really great. If you are looking for ironwood, check these folks out.

I must agree with you, Kevin.

I have done business with them as well.
The service is excellent, and so is Mr. Bradley.

You pick out a set of scales (or block) that is pictured on their site and place an order for it. You receive that piece. Seeing it before you buy is great.

Check them out, folks. They have some of the best ironwood that I have seen.

Do you hear that?
That is the sound of inevitability.

Kevin,

I went to the Arizona Desert Ironwood Hompage and was certainly impressed. Considering your location, Berlin, Germany, I can understand your enthusiam with finding a good source for Ironwood.

But this is for our fellow members who are not so far from an ironwood source, I personally live in Tucson AZ, and ADI is only about 20 miles away...

Before you go off half-cocked, ready to throw your grocery money on some fancy scales, have all of you consider the value of "distressed" Ironwood??? I'm talking about "Garage Sale" items...

My wife and I like to hit the road every Saturday morning for those great bargains in garage sale and yard sale crap...

Ironwood is pretty plentiful here in Tucson and if an item has bounced off the floor and the little frog, deer, fox, turtle, what ever has lost a foot, they usually wind up in a garage sale.

No brag, just fact... But I've gotten numerous pieces to rival the best AIW has to offer at garage sales for 25 cents to a dollar. I have to cut the art apart, but you can buy a lot of scrapes for a few dollars.

Again, this notice is for the few like me who still need to stretch a dollar and I do not need the best money can buy.

In any case, thanks for a good source of high quality wood, I'll certainly check them out...

Bruce

Bruce, Would you send some of those broken footed frogs and deer up here to me in Walla Walla? I could use some. Bruce Bump

Hi Bruce,

I'm a flea market / garage sale man myself, but you're certainly right: over here in Germany there aren't too many Kaiser Wilhelm statues made from ironwood to be found. I do keep an eye out for antlers. Recently I bought a 12 point rack but eveytime I got the saw out I just couldn't bring myself to cut it up for grips. So now I mounted the whole thing in my entryway and use it as a hat and coat rack...

Good flea market hunting!

I must admit, this is one of the more impressive sites I have seen. The definitely have a leg on the competition just by this site.

I have added them to the infamous "Suppliers List".
