Just received a Mid-Tech with the IKBS pivot system. It's my first knife with this pivot and I must say the difference in the action over a conventional pivot is quite noticeable. The knife I have is a flipper and it opens like an assisted knife even though it's not, fast and strong. Also there is zero blade play so I am somewhat impressed with this innovation.

But considering this pivot some more I am wondering how it will hold up in use, especially compared with other common "tactical" type knives in the $400 range. I am thinking about the CRK Sebenza, Umnumzaan, XM-18, Strider SNG, etc. Is the IKBS something rugged and dependable for knives in this genre, or is it more for knives that are for less extreme usage?

Also are those who have edc'ed knives with the IKBS loving it and looking to purchase more knives with it?

Lastly, is it or would it present any maintenance issues? It seems like dirt/sand and such might pose a problem with this design.

All comments on the IKBS would be appreciated!

I asked the same questions on another forum. The response provided a link to another forums showing some of the tests the IKBS could withstand. I was not able to check it out but apparantly they are pretty robust. I'd like to hear about more real world experiences.

Reading your post inspired me to google a bit and I found these videos below. After watching them I think IKBS is solid!

I have several balisongs with IKBS, and in my opinion, there is nothing you have to worry about. I have never had any issues with lint or dirt (mind you I wasnt getting it really dirty), and I have had many different pivot types (traditional pins, press-fit pins with screws, bushings) and IKBS is the only one with truely no play in the handles.

It is smooth as glass and rock solid for sure! What IKBS flipper are you planning on getting?

I really like IKBS. I would like to have more kives with it. I DO have another knife on the way with IKBS.

Rangerover,

I just received an all black DLC Pro Series Junkyard Dog from the True North limited run. It's super smooth action and very well made, but I want to make sure it's a dog that can be worked hard too :)

I have carried it the last 2 days and I am very impressed with Mr Galyean's work on this midtech, btw. Highly recommend this knife!
