About two or three weeks ago a few retailers received a fresh batch of Ikuchi's. I decided to take the chance and placed an order. Very happy with this iteration as it's much better than the first that I bought. Excellent detent, flips wonderfully, drops shut, centered blade, and blade tip well recessed into handle when closed so as not to present a hazard. I also added custom CF scales that really elevates the Ikuchi. Full CF, contoured, eliminates the hole in the handle, and adds a feel of sturdiness. This is the way it was meant to be from the beginning. Loving the knife now. Here's a quick pic next to the original.

I have no problem w/the original.

Nice to see the "improvement" but I have no need/desire to buy another.

Nice scale's!!! Great knife!

I also had a pre-CQI.. Then my son(15) showed interest in it.
So I snagged a CQI model and gave my son the pre-CQI..
After I took the top of the tip to the groove in the CBN Sharpmaker rods..
Just a couple light swipes and I couldn't catch the tip of the blade anymore..

I sold the CQI model to a friend and replaced it with a CQI Kapara.

I know.. Two different knife's.. But both fill the "Gentlemen's" role, for me.

Kinda miss the wheel flip and wish the Kapara had that option! Oh well, can't have it all, in 1 knife! Lol..

If you look closely at the photo of my original Ikuchi you can see I took the very tip down a bit too. :)

I had to take the tip on mine down as well. Never really loved the knife and sold it off. I'd like to try it again so maybe a CQI version if it pops up in the forum.
