Can anyone tell me with complete accuracy whether or not it's legal in IL (suburban Chicago) to concealed carry , for self-defense/utilitarian purposes only, a push dagger ? Blade length is just under 3" if that matters. And would it matter if I was at the same time concealed-carrying(legally) a handgun ? Thanx in advance for all replies & advice !

Let me preface by saying I'm not a lawyer, but I know CCW law makes no mention of knives. It isn't an either/or situation. You could theoretically carry 4 handguns as well as any LEGAL knife... You should know this if you've taken a quality CCW training class for an Illinois permit... You might want to brush up on your knowledge before risking inadvertent carrying into one of Illinois TWENTY ONE prohibited areas!

City of Chicago vs the suburbs are 2 different animals. I know that in the city there is something like a 2.5" length limit for knives, but I have never been hassled carrying a longer knife with an exposed clip... I think there is a restriction only allowing 1 sharpened edge though... I doubt anyone would hassle you anywhere, and it's probably even less likely in the suburbs.

Why would you WANT to carry a push dagger though!? Why do you even need it if you are carrying a pistol? That's the sort of thing that just draws attention to yourself. Drawing attention to yourself is something that if you are legally carrying a handgun you should be going out of your way to avoid- (especially in Illinois)
