Love that they smoothed up the flipper action on the new 2018 models and the Mantra 3 has everything I want in a Spyderco flipper. Except maybe those cool jade scales!

Its strange to me that I really want this knife, but I already have a Sage 5 and the original Mantra, and I never carry the Sage and rarely the Mantra. I guess this is the middle ground of the 2 knives that appeal to me. Still wish it was M4.

Thanks. I was hoping for something more like s90v. I like the M4 version but I need another s30v knife like another hole in my head. I like the compression lock and the CF but I guess I was hoping for something else that would make me say I need one of those.

I'm waiting for a few longer term reports on the pivot first. Kind of hard to trust Spyderco not only after getting it wrong the first time but then denying anything was wrong with anything but the Advocate until the revision in the Mantra 3 was ready for release (and Eric *did* admit the first version had to be changed in a Shot Show video).

That aside, definitely love this one. The Mantra for my tastes is like a perfected Delica (besides the ball bearing pivot and flipper, whuch I can do without but also can ignore to get the rest of the design). I really hope this one comes out perfect.

You seem to know an awful lot about the situation... But you should get your details straight. I'll see if you can figure out your error, oh knowledgeable one.

I’m excited for it. I dig my Mantra1 and carry it reasonably often. Kind of bummed about S30V, but I will deal.

While we don’t know what the action will be like, it sure looks snappy in the videos I’ve seen

I wonder if there is any way to retrofit the new bearing system into the older Mantra, which from pictures obviously, I believe I still prefer.

I really like this design. I'm fine with s30v. I want a compression lock that doesn't interfere with the flipper tab when closing. Having a spydie hole just make it more fun to play with. I can understand why people would want some other steel choices. Maybe those will come out later. I figure Spyderco is trying to perfect its design a little more before going all out with it.

I like having the hole for when a more discreet deployment is appropiate,
you can just thumb roll the blade open with less attention.

Hope they get it right with the flipper tab clearing the compression lock tab placement,
they have acknowledged the pivot action was less than optimal on the previous model.
I believe them when they say they have improved it.

If everything is as it should be whether this knife is for you or not...you have to marvel.
We are witnessing an amazing evolution with these flipper compression lock folders!
