Behold! My new .25" thick steel clipboard!
I made it from 9"x12" 1/4"-thick weld steel plate. I got the metal sheared; then I drilled clip-holes, spray painted the surfaces black (to prevent rust); riveted in the clip action and dremelled off the expanded ends; then roughed up the four corners in the back and poured globs of hot glue to act as skid-feet and raise the board an 1/8" from tabletop surface.
It's something like 15 lbs. of absolute uselessness.
