Behold! My new .25" thick steel clipboard!

I made it from 9"x12" 1/4"-thick weld steel plate. I got the metal sheared; then I drilled clip-holes, spray painted the surfaces black (to prevent rust); riveted in the clip action and dremelled off the expanded ends; then roughed up the four corners in the back and poured globs of hot glue to act as skid-feet and raise the board an 1/8" from tabletop surface.

It's something like 15 lbs. of absolute uselessness.

Sorry if the pics don't show. ignore the watch pic.

Smooth writing surface, stop a bullet. Don't **** with me when I'm taking notes... :) :) :)

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing! :D

Besides, it's not useless -- if someone starts shooting at you while you're walking around with your clipboard in your hand, you have a bulletproof shield! Walking around with that in your hand must be good exercise, too. And if you ever find yourself lost in the wilderness without any tools you can sharpen up one edge on a rock, put a handle on it and you'll have yourself an ax!

You cracked me up.

The only difference between you and me is that you made yours. If I wanted something like that, I would probably have found one on some web site and bought it for $75...plus $15.95 shipping for the extra weight. Then the next day wondered, what was I thinking???

At least you got the fun of making it.

:D

fun..

I took the clip-action off of a plastic clipboard. I took it off by dremeling the rivets from the plastic, then using my Emerson minicommander to pry the piece from the plastic board. In the process, i sliced my left index finger open very, very deep. It's still numb, and I'm regretting not getting stitches. But then again, I didn't have a chance to go to the University Health Services anyway... I did use krazy glue to keep it shut/stop bleeding. I've used super glue on wounds many times before. You'll be surprised how well it works. Seriously.

Take care guys.

Sweet. :D

One problem though -- no sharpened edges? What are you going to do when the ninjas get into your secret shipping/receiving warehouse? :D ;)
