maybe this will help :P

look at the links below they do not compare the bk9 to the potbelly but they give a good overview of the capabilities of the potbelly.

just going off the specs I would guess bk 9

Wouldn't comparing the BK7 to the Potbelly make more sense?

^^ the potbelly is 1/4 of an inch thick

I've never even seen a potbelly in real life but I have a BK9 and it's a great blade and you won't regret it.

Thanks Big, BK-9 is in my future. The more i read momouppa links Dan57 is right about the Bk-7 would be a better comparison. So by the end of the year maybe i'll have both.

BK9 is my favorite of the Becker lineup. You'll get a lot more content if you ask this question in the Becker subforum. Including some sweet pics of a modded potbelly. I actually want one of those too. If you're on the fence about the 9, go ahead and hop off. It's a great knife. Use it for all your knife tasks, then try chopping with it, and you'll probably be sold. It's surprisingly effective considering how light it is. I'd like to get another and try convexing it at some point though.

cant go wrong with the BK9. the sad this is that i have spent moor on a sheath and scales that i did on the damn knife!

I cheaped out and just stretched a piece of inner tube over the handle. I did get some kydex from AZWelke, nice stuff. After my second custom sheath I realized it was going to get expensive to buy them so I watched a ton of vids and bought the supplies to do it my self.

I'll have to try that. I also have a azwelke sheath. One of these days I'm going to buy some sheets of kydex to make a couple sheathes. I'd also like to make a nice leather sheath, but that's a whole other story.

Get your sheets of kydex from a local plastics wholesale supplier if you can. Save you a TON of money. I probably save 50% off of the prices from places like knifekits buying locally. They'll even cut it up for you into smaller sheets, oftentimes. Can save even more if they do remnant sales.

Perhap a better head to head might be the BK9 and the Kabar zombie war sword. These knives are about the same size although the Becker is heavier [ and more expensive]. I wouldn't disagree with the claim that the Becker is the stronger knife ,but I prefer the more aggressive shape of the war sword blade. I put on the black scales ,had a kydex sheath made for it, and now I'm just waiting for some dumbass zombies.
I"ll get a BK9 one of these days because it does look unbreakable.

I DO HAVE A VIDEO ON THE BK9, BUT IT IS NOT EN ENGLISH...

THE ONE ON THE POTBELLY ON THE OTHER HAND...
