Im looking to buy a good fixed blade knife either a buck 119 special or some type of ka bar and im pretty sure as long as i dont have criminal intent fixed is alright in illinois but lake county laws seem more confusing also does anyone know if being 18 matters or not? Thanks guys

From what I have read, you can carry any type of knife so long as it isn't released by a button or spring mechanism, and do not use it in a harmful manner. It has to be under 3" and not concealed. In Chicago I think it's 2.5"

Some say it's not that restricting. I think it is.

There is an exemption I think for a "hunting knife" but you would have to be hunting.

Not a lawyer so if you want confirmation the absolute best thing to do is call your police stations non emergency line and ask, and you might get informed about some local laws as well.

Best off talking to a local LEO or attorney. Local ordinances can be stricter than state. I have been told that unless your actually "hunting or fishing" there is no reason to be carrying said knife.
