I usually carry a Spyderco Military. When I can't carry the Military, I carry a Lava.

I will be travelling from the free state of Pennsylvania to the communist strongholds of Milwaukee, WI and Rockford, IL for a wedding.

Sorting through all the gibberish of the actual codes, can I carry a knife with a 4" blade or should I stick with the Lava?

Officially, you shouldn't carry the Military through Illinois...but if you carry it in your pocket out of sight, you probably won't find folks in Illinois too upset about it.

Exception: if you're going into the City of Rockford itself, you might get more scrutiny. Two-to-three minutes outside Rockford, and you're in God country: they'll want to see it.

Otherwise, you'll be fine with a Lava. There's nothing here you can't cut with that.

You can carry any length knife you want in Illinois.

The exceptions are:
1.) Some cities have their own limits. For instance Chicago.
2.) It is illegal to carry a knife 3" or longer if you intend to commit a crime.

If you aren't intending to commit a crime, you can carry as long a knife as you wish in Illinois.

I might just carry the Lava, it cuts like a big knife and will fit better in a suit.

Thanks for the help guys.
