Howdy,

Thought I would show some of my work from as of late.....

I made my very first striker, for flint and steel fire-lighting.....

I also mod'd a couple of Opinels.....

I never quite trust that the blade is gonna stay in the handle, even with the locking ring, and here is why...

Locking Ring Closed....

Blade still Open, open enough to ruin my day, at least....

So, I mod'd it... w/ a lanyard hole...

So, I can run a cord bight through the hole, and around the tip of the blade, making it safe....

Finally, you may remember that I found an Iltis Camping Hatchet in my garage....

I sanded the wood down, stained it to look used, and older, and blue'd the head. Finishing up the sheath, and then I will figure out where I will dispose of it.

Hope you enjoyed, and let me know what you think....

That's a good idea for the Opi, I'd say you could take the ring off and grind/cut that closed notch a little further, then snap it back on. The only time mine's ever done something like that was when I forget to slide the ring over when closed, just enough knockin' around in the pocket to pop it open a little.

The striker and hatchet both look pretty cool, good for someone camping old style.

How does one take the ring off?

I dig the striker and the axe! Great work. Does your thumb rest against the flat part of the striker? Got an inhand shot of how you hold it, looks different and interesting.

Thanks for the kind words guys.... I really appreciate it.

I am just getting into this whole metal shaping thing, and I am kinda vulnerable.

I want it, and I want it bad.

That's cool. I just got the hankering to do traditional flint and steel. You steel looks great, how are the sparks?
