I've been eyeing some customs/hand made knives and saving up for one. Several times I almost got there in terms of having the money only to be side tracked by a deal I couldn't pass up on a "lesser" knife. First I was set back by a cheap custom knife that I really didn't want but couldn't resist on bidding on Ebay. A few weeks later I was set back around $100 by a Benchmade in the For Sale forum. Then another Ebay purchase (this time one I'm glad I got). And on and on. Now I finally have enough money but I'm no longer itching for the knife I originally saved up for. Actually, it's more correct to say that other knives in the same price range have cropped up and are enticing me from my original purpose. I'm frozen with indecision. All the sharp shiny things are distracting me. Among the knives I'm considering:

1. Scott Cook small Owyhee, (http://scottcookknives.com/hunters.htm)

2. A clip point hunter from forum member Txwoodchip (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=206481)

3. An AG Russell gentleman's damascus hunter (http://agrussell.com/agrussell/agd113.html)

4. This one (http://www.knifeart.com/zululandhunter.html)

5. Or I could get one of these and not be set back too much and start saving back up again (www.ragweedforge.com)

6. Or I could continue to save till I have enough to get a Scott Cook Lochsa folder (http://scottcookknives.com/lochsa.htm)

7. Or, if I really control myself and save up even more, maybe I can convince Scott Cook to do a Lochsa folder with a Talonite blade (droooooool)

And this is all your all's fault for having this forum!!!!

I got a chance to handle Scott Cook's knives at Blade. Ken Collucci bought an Owhyhee. The Lochsa is an incredible design, the most comfortable grip possible, and a really tough working knife at that. Once you've held one, I think your decision becomes easier :)

I bought a large Owyhee hunter from Scott last year and have a Lochsa on order now. His work is just fabulous. He is also building up quite a waiting list which is bound to be longr tomorrow. When I ordered my Lochsa I was told 6 months. a fellow ordered one a week later and was told 8 MONTHS! As this continues you will see it harder and harder to find his knives, their prices will go up and the secondary market strong. Now is the time if you are even thinking about it.

Nice list of knives you have there Grapevine. I have a large Owyhee with snakewood and everything people are saying about the quality of Scott's knives is true. You won't be dissapointed if you go that route. I had not seen that A.G. Russell knife before, seems like a very good price for a nice looking damascus hunter. As soon as I recover from my sebenza purchase I'll seriously consider that one. I also like the knives txwoodchip is producing, beautiful work on all his blades.

Have fun deciding!

Let's all of us Scott Cook fans gang up on him and get him to make a Lochsa with talonite blade for me.

Nice taste! That Zululand hunter looks to be just about the perfect utility knife to me! Lots of other nice things there too. The knives from Ragweed Forge make absolutely the best beaters. I bought a Mora2000 from him over a year ago and its still going strong.

That Lochsa folder looks great and is a very reasonable price as well. I love the integral construction of this knife. I haven't bought a folder in a while, but I am sorely tempted.

Good taste :)
I myself placed an order on Lochsa S90V and look forward to meeting Scott on BAKCA show. At least I'llbe able to handle his knives. Those hunters look so attractive.
