As some of you may remember, in my "What's missing from your collection?" thread, I revealed my deep, dark secret: I don't own a stockman pattern knife!

So I've decided I'd like to try to fill that void. I'm mainly interested in something with bone covers, and a cattle knife would work also, in lieu of a standard stockman. Carbon steel preferred, and if there's anything out there with a spear main instead of a clip, that would be fantastic. Either way, I have a definite preference for long pulls on the main.

I know the GEC 81 Northfield fits the bill, but I thought I'd throw this out there and see if there's something else that would work (that, and I can't find an 81 in bone that I particularly care for).

Thanks for any recommendations!

Dan, stockmen with long pulls are somewhat rare, but Boker has made a few in their C75 carbon steel. Nice knives for the money.

The Queen heritage knives fit the bill. I have had good luck with the series but others have reported hit and miss fit/finish. But they are in bone, have longpulls, carbon blades and can be found in a clip and spear.

Queen released some Robeson's a while back. They have a clip instead of a spey blade. It's worth tracking down.
Don't forget about the GEC Wrangler w/ a punch.

These old Frontier ones should not be too difficult to find, nor expensive. They may have also made them in jigged bone/delrin not sure.

You don't state size, Böker Germany do a very nice Small Stockman with longpull in carbon, jigged or smooth bone, stag too.

Then there's the GEC 53/54 frame must be a longpull in those Cuban Stockman I believe.

I'll check them out for sure! Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, Mark! That Robeson/Mastercraft is sure nice!

Dan - sending PM
Replied, kind sir! Thank you!!!

That frontier model looks awfully nice, Willgoy. I'm definitely going to have to check out these Bokers, as you're the 2nd to recommend them.

Thank you very much, everyone!

recently picked up these two. The 63032 is slim and the 6318 is a little thicker. I really like the 6318. Very smooth action.

This Bulldog seems to be close to your preferences, stag, carbon, long pull. I bought from a dealer on BF.

here are my two 81...i have to admit that iwould love to see a 81 or 82 in remington like peachseed bone though (fits rounded serpentine slim knives better i think so 82) ...the jigging on the green (no long pull) tidioute is a bit too evenly and on the copperhead northfield a bit too big/deep...but i love them and if you havent seen them before maybe you like it...

I like the Case 6318 as well. Here is one next to another favorite of mine, the Queen #9.

I´ve carried the CASE Medium Stockman 63032 in Chestnut Bone CV as my only knife for about nine months and I real loved that wonderful knife. It kept all my needs quiete well and never failed on me.

So I can highly recommend that very knife. You won´t regret getting a Stockman knife.

Wow, there's a ton of beautiful stockmen coming out of the woodwork in this thread! Ismaris, that bulldog is just gorgeous! Bjoern, those 81s are great!

I'm very pleased to report that a couple of our fantastic members have stepped forward and offered to send me a couple stockman pattern knives. Not wanting to accept more than my fair share, I took only one up on his offer, so I soon should be the proud owner of a Case stockman in CV with a punch! I also wound up purchasing an Ulster cattle knife off of the exchange. Go big or go home, as they say! :D

But now that I've been gifted a knife, you know what has to happen next, right? It's giveaway time! Stay tuned, folks!

A spear point on a stockman?Perish the thought!:barf: ;) :D

The Queen Heritage JustinR mentioned sounds like just the ticket if you have to have a spear main and can find one.

I had to see one for myself and grabbed this old pic from KSF off of google images for all to see.

The spear looks ok on a Cattle knife, but IDK about a serpentine frame.

Good luck on the hunt.
