I want to give special thanks for all the help over the last year to Jim Merritt, Thad Buchanan, Marcus Lin, Ian Bailey, and Rob Brown. It has been a roller coaster working towards being a cancer survivor, working a day job and trying not to embarrass the guys that have coached me.

First is a 4.5" Loveless pattern Utility Hunter with black linen Micarta/red liner honoring Jim Merritt.

Second a 4" Loveless pattern Drop Point Hunter with green Micarta/red liner honoring Bob Loveless.

Third a 2.5" Loveless pattern Drop Point Hunter in one of my favorite, natural canvas Micarta and no liner.

And lastly one of my Utility knives with a swedge.

Comments are welcome.

I hope you enjoy; thanks for looking!

David,

I failed to see your thread until you brought it back to the top.

It looks like you are ready for the show.

Knives look good and it appears you have taken your coaches advice and run with it.

Is the 2 1/2" Drop Point a Loveless pattern or did you work it out on your own?

Keep up the good work and best of luck at the show.

Take care

Charles

Thanks Charles! These are my first 3 I was not able to finish the Chute I started. The 2.5 is the smallest I was able to find in the shop, from what Jim says very few made. The other interesting thing is the 4.5" Utility; it is the pattern that ended up being the Lone Wolf Utility folder. I believe the norm is a 5" Utility.

David, I know I've said it before but you're so talented. I can't believe you've only been making knives for a year. It's really amazing. I know many people who have made knives for years and can't do what you do. Keep doing what you're doing.

BTW are you going to the ABS California hammer in next month? You'll enjoy it.

Thanks everybody!

Ray I would like to go but to close; I unfortunately need to get back to some home improvements (tile sucks).

Beautiful knives!!! :) I must admit that I don't know the details on your story David, but let me say congratulations on your accomplishment, both with the knives and the (almost?) win against cancer!!! :)

With the guys in that list as coaches/influences.... you've got some of the best helping you to get where you want to be!!! :)

Thanks for sharing! :)

David, not the first time I've seen and commented on these as you know, but I thought I'd add my two penneth (or should that be cents?:D) here as well....

I've been looking forward to seeing your work and it was well worth the wait....they are superb.

As for help, you've given me more than I could ever hope to give anyone....folk like you are what make the knifemaking world such a great place....;)

Thanks mate,

Ian

No miss. Those look great. Really nice. I look forward to seeing them on Saturday.

Sweet - I just quoted myself. I held David's Loveless styled knives today. Damn, they are good! Probably gone. It didn't look like any of them would see Sunday at the show.
