I decided that with the money I got from the holidays I would probably buy a knife, so I was looking around at knife companies and I came across Emerson. I never really considered any Emersons before. (I just got into knives around a year ago and just discovered blade forums a couple months ago.) So I started researching some emerson folders and I was curious about how easy it is to open an emerson folder with the thumb disks?

It is very easy to open the knives with the thumb disc however the waved knives are generally already open when you pull them from your pocket.

Great knives from a good company. If you take the plunge you will not be disappointed.

Well I'm taking the plunge...Santa's got a mini CQC7 headed my way with the wave. I've got a Benchmade Elishewitz Stryker with the disk, and it's provides a reliable, positive grip. I've also got thumb-stud and Spyderco-hole knives. In comparison, I like the disk better than the stud, and about even with the hole. I'd reckon it's largely personal preference.

I've got 18 of Emerson's knives and they are my favorite knives. The good thing is you can take them apart very easily and put them back together to maintanace is easy, adjustability is fast, and it's just to much fun waving them open. =)

I have a Large 7 and a 10. I have had them both for almost 3 years. I can't say enough about them. I plan to get a frame-lock sometime. I would love to get a custom. Ernie makes some solid knives to be sure.

It's almost as easy as the thumb hole on the Spydercos and WAY, WAY easier than any thumb stud or flipper knife.

I have to say, I have the emerson SOCFK in both tanto and clip point, and they are by far my favorite 2 knives. great grip, and the blade shape on the clip point is superb.
